EWTN and Fr. Mitch Pacwa

The thread on prayer intentions says that Fr. Pacwa had a heart attack on Saturday night, presumably April 16, 2016.

He has such a strong personality and drive. it’s not for me to judge – perhaps his doctors – whether he should have such an aggressive schedule that he has.

Is he the last of his kind? Aren’t there more American priests with knowledge of languages and doctrine and scripture?

This is just my opinion but I thought Mother Angelica was overworked and now I think he was too. If he didn’t say that he’d made over 50 trips to the Holy Land, I’d never have guessed it.

In private business, they do something called “succession planning.” I don’t want to kick out Fr. Pacwa or anybody else, but is EWTN vetting more priests for the “Mother Angelica Chair”? Within their budget limitations, it seems that they should be grooming a dozen priests or more.

All priests trained in America need to know a minimum of three modern languages, not counting the biblical languages, and definitely are well versed in doctrine and scripture.

From my understanding lay people have been running EWTN for quite some time.
 
I think all the priest were “over worked” at thee time of Mother Angelica’s death and all the funeral arrangements that were made and attended by the priest and all the brothers. Do pray for Fr. Mitch and all the brothers. Keep in mind that it is what they “signed up” for as “good and faithful servants.”

No doubt Fr. Mitch is an amazing servant of God. He loves what he is doing and I’m sure it will be up to him and his Dr.s as to what his work schedule will be. I am praying for a full recovery for him. I know several that have had the same type surgery and they are healthier afterwards than before. God Bless, Memaw
 
The only thing I know about the behind-the-scenes life of EWTN is that there’s a whole bunch of nuns praying on a daily basis for God’s will to be done.

… and THAT has me extremely confident.
