Lifesite News reports that EWTN chose not to air programs regarding homosexuality in Canda and Europe due to hate crime laws there. The response from Amalia C. Zea, the producer of the popular program Life on the Rock was, “I apologize that you didn’t get the show that you were expecting. Due to the new hate crimes regulations in Europe and Canada, it is against the law for us to air shows whose main topic deal with same sex attraction.”

Should a Catholic network allow itself to be censored by the state?

Lifesite suggests emailing EWTN to express concerns:

Nope…they are cowards for not doing so…this is now time for the Vatican to step in and defend them with CA$H if lawsuits evolve from AIRING the show(s)

Whats that phrase? In season and out of season?

This is why today the Church has controversy over being accused of not doing enough with the Nazis…EWTN has just fallen into the same trap and has failed to do their job. What good are they if they just preach to the choir?

oy! Troy this is nonsense. :nope: EWTN doesn’t have to break the law and imperal their entire network to evangelize Canada and to stay faithful to the mission and the Church. You can still get all the broadcasts in the entire world over the internet and short wave radio.
And your comments about Nazi reaction are off the mark. Do your homework about both subjects and you will see that your analogies break down very fast. Changing what you do based on false accusations is stupid.

True, true and true.

So according to you if one doesnt have internet access they just aint gonna get the truth? And if Canada ever makes it illegal for certain things on the net like Cuba and China do then whats your reply gonna be?

In season and out of season…cant wait until it gets as bad as cuba and china…its gotta be faced down NOW.

I understand that EWTN was sued in England under the hate crime laws there. They were completly exonerated, but it costs money to send tapes, etc. EWTN doesn’t have the deeppockets to sustain this, esp. when people can receive the same thing via different media not coming under that threat.

Aren’t you clever. I’m sure glad that totalitarian governments aren’t aware of the internet. And even if they were, internet providers would NEVER censor content…

It is just a matter of time before we see the internet censored also.
