Do you know what cathedral this is? Cardinal Rigali seems like a very dear man. I don’t know that much about him but I love what he is saying!

It’s the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception – appropriate for the topic, isn’t it?

FYI - The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immacuate Conception is not the cathedral. St. Matthew is the cathedral.

And yes, the Shrine is beautiful. It is called a “hymn in stone”. People in DC for the walk for life hopefully will visit so they can see it in person. IMO pictures don’t do it justice.
 
I stumbled onto it at the very end – when all the clergy was filing out – I didn’t know what I was watching, b/c it seemed so “rowdy” for lack of a better term – hooting and hollering and clapping from every side – I thought it was a mass?

Thanks Reed, I did figure out what it was. I think that many of the people attending were indeed going to be part of the march. It looked like many youth groups were there.

Very inspiring to see so many youth. 🙂
 
On our next trip to DC, we’ll definitely make time to attend Mass there. It is beautiful.
 
Another place to go to in the Franciscan Monastary just several blocks away from the Shrine. It has replicas of places in the Holyland and a beautiful Rosary Portico. It’s like Heaven on Earth there.
