It was so shocking to me I had to rewind and replay, write down the numbers…

Churches have gone from several hundred to 30,000.
Monasteries went from 22 to over 800.
Theological schools from zero to over 100.
Restoring civil laws to mirror God’s moral laws.

As a side note, 10 years ago April at Easter, Catholic Answers had the youtube video of a stadium full of people proclaiming “Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen”. That is how Easter is proclaimed in the Eastern Rite and the Orthodox. I remember that video and it gave me tears. What a sight that was. It’s not a working link now. The CA post…

Edit: Checking out youtube and Mar 27 2019 at a football stadium, they are chanting, not for their team in this video, but Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!

Yes, it is all true!

Unfortunately, something that is not well known in the West is that during the Soviet era, Literally hundreds of thousands of Orthodox clergy were rounded up and shot:
During the purges of 1937 and 1938, church documents record that 168,300 Russian Orthodox clergy were arrested. Of these, 106,300 were shot.

The Church teaches that “the blood of the martyrs waters the ground and causes the faith to grow.” That is exactly what happened.

That is true. In particular they dynamited the Patriarchal cathedral in Moscow (kind of like our St. Peter’s basilica). When communism fell in the 1990s, we rebuilt it to the exact former specifications.
