I used to watch EWTN quite frequently while Mother Angelica ran it. Since her death, I haven’t seen the programming, until just recently, when I started watching again. I’ve found it’s nowhere near the programming it was when she was alive. Almost all segments, back then, were very interesting and educational. Some of the segments I’ve recently watched have been either boring or silly. Who is running that show, now?

Sad, isn’t it? I have been disappointed quite often with the programming. Especially with World Over Live.

Have you noticed that the same trio of priests are mostly the main celebrants? (Frs. Joseph Wolfe, Mark Mary, and John Paul Mary) As soon as I see one of them, I turn the channel. Where are the other friar/priests?

Yes, indeed. And what’s the deal with Raymond Arroyo with his own segment on Fox’s Laura Ingraham’s show? And he often fills in for her by hosting the entire show if she’s on vacation or off for a week. He’s certainly not apolitical and swoons over trump.

Mother Angelica had long since let go of the reigns long before her death. She had to. There are only a few programs I like anymore on EWTN and find myself watching CatholicTV.org much more either online or streaming on ROKU

I think EWTN has been excellent and is fulfilling what Mother Angelica started. World Over Live is an excellent show and I was impressed with Fr. Mitch Pacwa’s stand against the idol situation. I have increased my donation to them.

Now why do I get the feeling that if Arroyo did his own segment on MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski’s show, and filled in when she was on vacation, and swooned over Obama he’d be A okey-dokey!

I would not like seeing Raymond Arroyo on MSNBC more than Fox. As a one time guest he would be fine on either one but not as a regular.

I like The Journey Home. I don’t care for Women of Grace or the one with
Dr. Ray I think his name is. I like the movies on the saints, but I would like more
stimulating programs.

when mother died it was truly the end of an era. I still remember tuning in to see her memorial mass. I am sad to say I havent really tuned into EWTN like I used to, in fact last week was the first Time I had it on for more than 3 min. Im just busy and have alot going on but I remember like 5-6 years ago when I was watching it almost daily. I remember the kids shows, Benedict Groschell, EWTN Bookmark, the Weekly catalog bit, Life is Worth Living, and all the little 5-15 min bits they had in between certain programs, I can go on…I dont know the direction its going But I pray and hope its as strong and fervent as ever. we Need EWTN. I cant imagine a how bad it would be if it ceased or it turned from its roots

Because you’re just guessing.

Who was that other friar beside Benedict Groschell? I don’t remember his name, anymore. People often confused the two.

Andrew Apostoli might be who are thinking about. He died two years ago this week. Reruns of his appearances still run sometimes. We are fortunate we can still see old shows with him, Mother Angelica, Father Groeschel, and Bishop Sheen. I like to focus on the aspects I like about EWTN. If I don’t like a show I don’t watch it or think about it.

As far as Mother Angelica running the network that ended in the early 2000s when she got sick long before her death in 2016.

The newness factor has worn off a bit. Like any network it is going to have its ups and downs and evolve. What shows may not work for us personally may work for someone else, there seems to be plenty of content and choices from the network. We all just need to remember, the existence of EWTN is a miracle straight from God and into the hands of Mother Angelica to give to the world. What an awesome gift.

It always had a sort of low-budget quality to the production values but a strong point of view. My favorite program by far was ‘The Apostle of Common Sense’ but I had a hard time getting into others. I did watch or listen to ‘Sunday Night Live’ with Father Benedict Groeschel for a while.

My guess is that if Mother Angelica were somehow still alive and running EWTN today, it would probably be even more controversial and outspoken against what’s currently going on in the Church than it actually is today. She would have been the last one to silently put up with the stuff coming out of Rome for the last 6+ years.

Correct. She gave up control in the year 2000. So what the OP remembers was not related to her running the network

Grates on my nerves, too. That said, when he gets serious, his professional insights and wisdoms have been helpful to me on several occasions
