what are examples of Mortal/grave sins commited towards parents.
  • verbal insults in heat of a little disagreemnt or argument
  • being annoyed of there defects or the way they act and telling them it annoiyies you
they might be what else and are the top couple right

My first thought was the honor your mother and father commandment. So, I guess that can mean you have to obey them too, follow the rules they set and basically be responsible with the duties you are assigned.
I’m sure there is a verse in the bible about obeying their rules because there is one about not sparing the rod.

is small insults considered mortal and can i go to holy commioun. i could say something for example in the heat of the moment and then i speak to them as normal

or i could find them a bit annoying at the time and i would say something

  1. Honor your father and mother.
  • Serious failure to care for aged parents
  • Serious neglect of the duties of one’s state in life
  • Serious disrespect for or disobedience to parents, superiors or authorities
  • Wishing death or evil on parents
  • Abuse or serious neglect of children
  • Failure to baptize children in a reasonable time (within a few months) after birth
  • Serious neglect of the religious education or upbringing of children
  • Failure to carry out the last will of deceased parents
also somemore info

An example of this is talking back to your parents by telling them you won’t do something they asked you to do. That is light matter, and so it is venial. But with repititions and frequently talking back to your parents, it will make you more disposed to commit an act with grave matter, say, telling your parents that you hated them, or using the Lord’s name in vain while arguing with them.

You seem to be a pretty mixed up person. You start a thread about “mortal sins towards parents” but what you have just posted are sins to parents and to people other than parents. It also includes sins of parents towards children and even sins which have nothing to do with either. You don’t seem to be able to make your mind up what you want to discuss.
Its not clear to me if you are asking about sins committed by children or by parents!

thats how i found it. all i did was copy and paste

i really want to know if being a little bit nasty of crual and i may have said something when i felt annoyed is a grave sin to a parent

i’m figuring out if i need to go to confession. the problem is i want to go once a month and i end up going weekly because i not figure out wherether sins are grave/mortal or just vinal. if you can help i would be greatful

Put your mind at rest by going to see the priest as soon as possible. He will tell you.

i wish for my sake and people like me a book or a catholic internet site can be created with types of sins that are mortal and venial with basic wording because it really annoys me figuring out what is what.

I kind of think your duties toward parents will vary based on how old you are.

If I was twelve years old and said “f— you!” to my dad that might be a mortal sin, or at least a rather heavy venial sin, but now as I’ve gotten older . . . well my dad likes to say we’re a “passionate family” 😉 So we’ll fight sometimes and swear at eachother but I’ve never been mad at him (or he at me) for longer than about 20 minutes, then we always make up.

I dunno if it’s a mortal sin for me to fight with him like that; I’m trying to stop it. But I’d definitely say that it depends on your age. Or like, for another example, if I see my dad being really unfair to my mom or one of my siblings I’ll talk to him about it later and just be like “you really need to take a breather before you start yelling, I think you were too hard on them” or whatever, but if I was younger that probably wouldn’t be good behavior.

In terms of annoyance, well a feeling is just that - a feeling. You can’t help it if you feel annoyed by something someone’s doing but you can control how you respond to that feeling. So my dad might be annoying the heck out of me in some way but then I’ll just remind myself that he works his butt off to feed his family and I should respect him.

i dont even know what i said to him anymore. all i know is that at the time i was a bit annoyed and had abit of anger in me and i said a few things to him. nobody is perfect not even my dad. he does do things that i find annoying like he will ask me questions when its like he already knows or he might not talk properly and i tell him off. i’m in my 20s so is such a thing grave matter (telling someone there faults or annoying habbits

I don’t know.

You should definitely respect your dad more. Meditate on his good things. Think about how he raised you, loved you, how hard he works or how funny he is or whatever it is. Everybody’s annoying in some way, like I said it’s what you do with that feeling that matters.
