I would like to get some gift idea’s for Catholics when they receive certain sacraments. For example:
- Baptism
- 1st Confession
- 1st Holy Communion
- Confirmation (13 or 14 years old)
- Matrimony
- Holy Orders
Thanks!
Baptism for babies, a crucifix, nightlight w/religious theme, they don’t need much
For Youth and Adults for any of these sacraments of initiation, obviously a good Bible and CCC if they have not already received them in their class, otherwise first choice should always be a Daily Roman Missal. if it has Latin and English, so much the better, but the ordinary St. Joseph Sunday Missal would also be a great choice.
for confession, no gift, very private affair. we give all the children a crucifix as a gift from the parish on that day, that would be suitable.
1st communion, again a good children’s missal, and a children’s bible, or book of saints, or statue or medal of their baptismal name saint.
wedding gifts kind of take care of themselves, check their gift registry, but if you want a religious gift, a family bible (all our daughters got at least 2, one from each side). or a statue or icon for their home, or a good large wall crucifix. for every adult in our confirmation/RCIA class who gets married or convalidated we give a Holy Family holy water font with a bottle of holy water.
ordination–the family traditionally gives the chalice, but a donation toward the cost of clerical clothes, or gift cert for same. the rest of the family and friends could go in on a portable Mass kit. good gift for seminarian is 4 vol LOTH which is required, but pricey.
