Excellent Movies About Gays - A Must See

At first I was suspicious about the links and the OPs intent as well, but after clicking on the links the movies really do sound interesting from a Christian perspective.

I’m not planning to go out and buy them but I will see if For The Bible Tells Me So is available through Netflix or the library.

The OP is not promoting the gay agenda. She is letting us know that there’s a film out there which is about how Christian and non-Christian parents have coped with having a child pronounce themselves as gay. Go to the Family Life forum here or Spirituality and you’ll find lots of threads from members here trying to figure out how they should be dealing with the same kind of news in their extended families.

There is a very fine line for Catholics between hating the sin and loving the sinner. Easier said than done, especially when we’re talking about our children, our parents, our aunts and uncles. That is what the film the OP is sharing with us deals with. I think it was good of her to share the info with us.

If I wrote about theft would it receive the same attention and replies or if I wrote about cheating at the grocery store, bank robbery theft, credit card fraud, or swearing , greed , envy, jealousy, pride, anger, etc. sins ad nauseum in general, these sins would never receive the major interest that being gay does. Wow! Emotions run high when gay comes up on a forum.

Homosexual behavior is repulsive in a way that bank robbery and credit card fraud are not.

Yes, God does love all people, and the emphasis is on “ALL.” God does not, however approve, condone, or otherwise accept any sex with anyone other than a person’s husband or wife…period. It is what it is, nothing more, nothing less.

You cannot take the things you like from the bible and say you are a christian, then discard and ignore the things you do not like, and still calll yourself a christian. The bible is the Word. It cannot be added to or anything taken away from it, for it is the Word of God.
I too can sense the ulterior motive in iloveu2 posts. Please, realize that homosexuality lifestyles are WRONG,WRONG,WRONG and no amount of coaxing people to watch movies that suggest we should take another look at the Christian condemnation of the homosexual lifestyle will make it right. Yes we love all sinners but we never ever condone sinful actions.
I sense an alterior motive and an agenda that is against the traditional family way of life. You coat it in christianity and try to make your agenda look so harmless and loving. This is something I would expect from the ACLU. Their agenda is to destroy the traditional american family through litigation, forcing everyone to accept things that do nothing but bring man down to the level of a soulless animal.

All of us are sinners. All of us have the mercy of God available to us through redemption and penance. Sin is sin, and no matter what you say about it, it does not change that fact that homosexuality is sinful. God does love the sinner, all sinners, but hates sin. Sin restricts the soul from receiving God’s graces through the Holy Spirit. God calls homosexuals to celibacy.

My last thought is this: He who helps another to sin, takes part in that sin. By your advocating all things gay, you take part in the sins of others committed from reading your posts and believing in what you preach.

I will pray for you for clarity, so that you may know the Truth, and the whole Truth, not just bits and pieces of it that fit in with your situation.

Your heart doesn’t make the rules, God does. The Bible clearly states that homosexual acts are sinful, as does the Catechism (not sure if you’re Catholic or not, so here’s where you can find it: scborromeo.org/ccc/p3s2c2a6.htm#2357)). In order to understand why homosexual acts are disordered, you need to understand what the marital embrace is supposed to be. Once you do, it makes perfect sense why homosexual acts are sinful.

We are ALL sinners – our sins may be different, but we all sin. Thankfully, with Jesus’ help, we can avoid sin and receive forgiveness when we need it. Homosexuals should be treated with kindness, the same as anyone else – but promoting acceptance of that type of lifestyle is not acceptable.

From the Catechism:

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

The reason that same-sex attraction (SSA) and homosexual acts receives so much more attention is because not everyone agrees. We all agree that bank robbery and stealing is wrong, thus, any thread discussing it wouldn’t go very far. It would simply consist in people saying “Yes, you’re right! It is sinful to rob a bank!”

Add to this the fact that the secular culture is making very great efforts to oppose this Church teaching and even ridicule the Church for Her teaching. Some countries even have “hate speech laws” which make it illegal to speak out against homosexual activity. Thus someone is breaking the law simply by telling people what the Church teaches and why!

Not to mention the fact that people also *confuse *the teaching of the Church. Some people mistakenly think the Catholic Church teaches that the mere fact of having SSA is sinful. Or they think the Church “hates gays”. This is not true. We are not responsible for what we cannot control. What is sinful is acting on SSA. Thus, someone who suffers from SSA can be a Catholic in good standing and live a virtuous life (the same as anyone).

So, yes, it is one of those issues where “emotions flare.” With good reason!

I suggest taking a closer look at Courage. They are a Catholic apostolate that ministers to people who suffer from SSA. The Church does practice Jesus’ command to love our neighbors. Courage is one good way the Church practices loving those with SSA.

Actually, I think the reason “gay” posts receive so much attention is because there is a big push to make people “accept” the gay lifestyle as being moral, as though it were akin to a married lifestyle between a man and a woman.

There is no one out there trying to push rape, bank robbery, murder, etc. as being moral.

There are those who believe in and abide by the teachings of Christ. These teachings have been handed down faithfully by the Catholic Church over the past 2000 years. They are not some made up rules of a “pope”. They are the teachings of Jesus Christ himself. Because people can’t argue with the teachings of Jesus Christ, they call faithful followers of Christ names, such as bigots or homophobes and label them as intolerant. It’s o.k. it is for standing up for morality that they killed John the Baptist too. Those persecuted in His name stand in good company.

Any “sex” except between that of a married man and woman in union with God as co-creators of life is sinful because it takes the co-creative aspect out of the picture. It then becomes lust and all lust is sinful.

This is also why it is sinful for married couples to use any artificial contraception. It takes their roles as co-creators of life in union with God and turns it into lust.

It does not matter who is doing it or how. All lust is sinful.

Back to the original point. When people start trying to justify rape and bank robbery, there will also be outcries from people.

It is not because we hate homosexuals. It is because what they are doing is an abomination. For these and other sins indicating that we have turned our backs on God, our country is seeing the beginning of the chastisements. Fires, hurricanes, climate and season change… It has all been prophesied.

But it is all too easy to blame “global warming” on high energy use. There are none so blind as those who will not see.
