After 40 Years

Tomorrow morning, for the first time in 40 years, a solemn High Mass according to the old rite will be celebrated in St. Peter’s Basilica. The celebrant: American Archbishop Raymond Burke/SIZE]

All of us who live in the the SHOW-ME STATE are::

The correct term is Extraordinary Form of the Mass.

The only rite in the Latin Church is the Late Rite.

BTW, please enlighten me on this “Late Rite” you speak of. I’ve heard of the
ROMAN
AMBROSIAN
MOZARABIC
rites & I know that some religious orders (ex. Franciscans & Benedictines & Dominicans) who have their own rite, but where in the heck is this “Late Rite” promulgated??🍿
 
Mozarabic, Ambrosian and Roman rites are all part of the Latin Rite of the Catholic church. IIRC
 
A Happy Day indeed.

My only recollections of the “Latin” mass was as a Heathen, unchurched ‘vandal’ ( as in the old roman empire sense). But even then I was impressed & perhaps just being in the Church & hearing it stirred something in me that became manifested a decade later.

I know I have personally longed to go to a Valid Latin Mass within my diocese & perhaps finally that reality will come to pass…

You are very welcome & I hope that your dream of attending a Latin Mass comes true very soon.

You might want to just check this link to see if there is one close to you. This is how I found the parish holding a Latin Mass in my city. In the beginning, I tried calling the different parishes & the attitude toward the Mass of the Ages …of those I called… was terrible. We have 7 parishes here &, to this day, not ONE of the other 6 Chuches have even announced that a Latin Mass is available in the city. We’ve had it here for 2 yrs., but very few people who live here know that. Still we have a stable group & I see one or two new faces every Sunday.

Living in Missouri I have a special regard for Archbishop Burke & his orthodox views. He served in this state until he left for Rome. That, plus he ordained my own Bishop & was his mentor for years. I can’t help but hope that AB. Burke will be our first American Pope. 🙂
