Excluding Saint Peter, who was the greatest Pope in history?

So excluding the current Pope (he is not yet ‘past’), and St Peter (would be unfair to the others), who has been the greatest/best/ your most most favored Pope in history and why?

Do we have to exclude Pope Benedict XVI as he’s emeritus and still among us?
 
As a little girl, my first Pope was Pius XII. I mourned bitterly when he passed, 😥 so much so that I have to admit I resented John XXIII who replaced him. 😖

Growing up, I saw a video of John XXIII’s life and repented of my childish rejection, 😔 vowing to trust more in God’s will.🙂

Every Pope is given by the Holy Spirit, to guide God’s Church to holiness. I will love and support him, and appreciate his unique gifts as what we need during his time of serving.

Tough call. Pope Saint Pius X, for encouraging frequent receipt of Communion, codifying canon law, and anti-modernist stance. Or Pope Cletus because of the name.
 
Pope St.John Paul II. I like what he has done (especially World Youth Day, and yes, this is coming from someone who is a youth) and I also was born during the time he was pope.
 
As much as I thought Pope Saint John Paul II was great, my top honour would go to Pope Saint Paul VI. He concluded Vatican II, lifted the excommunications with the Orhtodox churches, opened dialog with the protestant churches, originated the OF mass, was a great promoter and initiator for peace in many conflicts (vietnam, Congo, Nigeria, Middle east), and to a great degree brought the Church into the modern world.
 
Saint Paul was the greatest pope as Jesus chose him to teach the non Jew.
And everyone is still reading his instructions

well, Saint Paul was never Pope… Unless I missed part of history…
