There is a person I am in contact with that is in Japan. She claims to have been into satan worship at one time in her life.

She says she hear’s voices in her head that whenever she says “Jesus” it comes out in her head as “Lucifer” or “Satan”.

She also indicated that she has been diagnosed as schitzofrinic(sp?).

I think she should go see an exorcist but want to have a good recommendation. She may in deed be schitzofrinic, but I’d rather she would see a priest to be on the safe side in case there is more to this than meet the eye here.

Thank you all!

I’m unaware of any exorcists in Japan. She should contact her archdiocese or a priest she trusts. Perhaps she could make a pilgrimage to Akita?

Not to minimize your concern, but, I believe that that the order of intervention would be to first medically/psychiatrically evaluate/stabilize your friend, then have an “exorcist” evaluate her. Have her contact the Archdiocese that she lives in for a referral.

The first thing an average Excorsist will do is to send them to a psychyatrist to make sue there is not a mental illness.

But there are some Excorsists who can detect quickly if there is demon infestation. The Pope’s Excorsist, Father Amorth can do this.

One very, very important thing that is often abused is this. DO NOT try to get help from a fortune teller or a medium, they make it harder to get rid of the trouble later. Dont do that.

All Excorsists say to go to confession, do pennance, attend Mass often and pray, pray and pray,

If she attended a Satanic gathering, go find anything the may have taken home with her from the Satanic gathering, paper, handkerchief, booklet or a medal. Gather these things , go outside and burn them. Yes BURN them. I am sorry.

Before she sees an exorcist, she desperately needs medical attention. This sounds like a psychiatric problem, not a spiritual one. But she won’t know till she she’s seen by a medical professional.

I am just finishing Fr. Amorth’s book now. It certainly is informative and eye opening. As a culture, we do tend to leap to secular doctors and psychiatry rather than an exorcist. As a result, it is very hard to find one these days. I agree that finding an exorcist for your friend would be valuable even if she does have a mental illness.( Especially since she has had contact with the occult.) However finding one is another story. You may have to search far and wide, but do try. I will pray for you and your friend. Good luck.

You might be interested to know that your friends problem is either illness or diabolical suggestion. Not possession. Diabolical suggestion happens regularly. The prayers on the website and the advice therein can help. Possession is extremely serious and she would not be able to make a good confession etc if she was possessed. You can also have partial possession when only one part of the body is possessed.
Every diocese has a priest that takes care of such matters. She need only talk to her priest to get in touch with him. But schizophrenia commonly causes these types of problems. She should check out the website I previously posted.

I am not certain that she is Catholic. She said she spoke to her “pastor”. I will keep the site you mentioned in mind and suggest it if I think she will consider looking into it. Thanks everyone for the prayers!

Exporter is right…but the person could show good-will by doing so herself/himself, if that is possible. If she refuses psychiatric treatment, well, that would be the Exorcist’s decision what to do. In my experience, usually, the Exorcist will not take this person on without a full medical/psychiatirc evaluation. All of this is mandated in the Manual.

But there are some Excorsists who can detect quickly if there is demon infestation. The Pope’s Excorsist, Father Amorth can do this.

This is true. But it doesn’t have to be just the priest. There may be someone on the team with the gift of this kind of discernement who works along with the priest.

One very, very important thing that is often abused is this. DO NOT try to get help from a fortune teller or a medium, they make it harder to get rid of the trouble later. Dont do that.

This is very true. It would only aggravate the problem big time. If she has dabbled in satanic occult, this could very dangerous both on a spiritual leve and/or physical level. It could deepen the level of oppression.

All Excorsists say to go to confession, do pennance, attend Mass often and pray, pray and pray,

There is a grain of truth in this. BUT when the person has lost their capability of doing so…possibly not even being able to say the name of Jesus without a reaction. Well, things can get complicated. And there may be a big worry that the Host would be desecrated in one way or another.

If she attended a Satanic gathering, go find anything the may have taken home with her from the Satanic gathering, paper, handkerchief, booklet or a medal. Gather these things , go outside and burn them. Yes BURN them. I am sorry.

The person who should do this would be on the advice of the priest. If this is a true case of exorcism, things could be very ugly. You would be entering into territory that is deigned Satan’s. Please listen to the priest and NOT take the action unless specified by the priest. You must be a very spiritual person, strong in the Faith and piety to take any kind of action. Be careful!

There are also many ways to discern how much the problem is psychiatric and/or spiritual. And this should be done. Most cases are frought with psychological problems and one needs to untangle with great discernment and great love.

Please understand I am talking out of experience. St Michael’s Spiritual Center is a good place to go and maybe Brother may be able to direct you. It is his ministry.

But if one has dabbled in satanic cults, chances are very real that there is some level of infection. Please pray for your friend that he/she gets the help he/she needs…in all respects. But do not take action unless specified by the priest.

I have had so many bad experiences physically with all kinds of abuse. Caution…!!!

The help is available to non Catholics too. So if she wants help it may be the choice for her. It’s up to her… If she is not suffering this due to illness then theres not much help of use available outside the Church.
Sometimes God permits the devils to torment us for various reasons and theres nothing we can do to stop it. St Paul talks about this and says he prayed 3 times for the Lord to take it away. At least he may be referring to trouble with devils. But we should try to rid ourselves of these things , especially if we have had involvement with the occult. I will keep you both in my prayers. Good luck.http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon14.gif
