I’m curious has the church had in recent years since the 90s or so brought in atheistic scientists to witness exorcisms or to evaluate anyone with the stigmata? I know of St. Padre Pio but anyone more recent? Sorry if that is confusing or posted in the wrong place!

Makes for an extensive answer.

Canonization of a saint usually requires 2 miracles, and those are mostly miracle cures. These miracle cures require a host of witnesses (medical doctors and staff included) and also medical proof.

Stigmata, are among other extraordinary phenomenon that occur in the lives of some saints and blessed. Most of those having that kind of physical manifestation are subjected to medical test both by believing and atheist doctors. The cases are usually well documented.

Exorcism, has to some extant been witnessed and recorded by atheists. The best book written, to my knowledge, with the testimony of well know medical doctors is “Esorcisti e psichiatri” by Father Amorth. But there are certainly bound to be others.
