“I understand that some Christians have been taught for generations to be afraid of anything that doesn’t come “purely” from “our” sources, meaning the bible. Ironically enough, these same scriptures contain ample examples of appreciative appraisal of elements of neighboring faiths, whether it’s Eastern Pagan astrology accurately divining the birth of Christ and travelling great distance to worship him, syncretistic heterodox Samaritans being heroes of parable and encounter, Greek philosophy offering us it’s concept of logos, or approving citations of neo-Platonic poetry as pointing to the all-in-one nature of one true God. We are fearful; God apparently, is fearless.”
-Father Richard Rohr

Some of us are more comfortable with things that seem to come from outside the Christian box.
