Dr. Brant Pitre, professor of sacred scripture at Notre Dame seminary, in New Orleans, Louisiana, he received a PhD in New Testament and ancient Judaism from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana. Since then he has spent time teaching, writing, and giving lectures on the Bible and on Jewish roots of Christianity. He is the author of Jesus the Tribulation, and the End of the Exile (Baker Academic 2005), Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist ( Doubleday, 2011), Jesus the Bridegroom: the Greatest Love Story Ever Told ( Image,2014), Jesus and the Last Supper (Eerdmans, 2015), and The Case for Jesus (Image, 2016). He also has DVDs and CD sets.
As one who has read his books especially Jesus and the Jewish roots of the Eucharist. He gets very in depth to show how the first century Jews would turn from being Jews and become Christian. The thing is people like Paul and Jesus’ circle knew what they were getting, a new Passover, a fullment of the scriptures. So when Jesus said take and eat take and drink for this is my body this is my blood. In John 6 when Jesus repeated himself and the crowd said that this is a hard saying and left. Jesus turned to his apostles do you want to go to. Peter said to whom shall we go . You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.
Dr. Pitre connects Jesus Passover with the Jewish Passover and how the Jewish Passover was a foretaste for what was to come. How we as Catholics have a rich faith with Martyrs who died for the church. Saints and angels that come down on every Catholic altar when there is a Mass that is being celebrated.
And the Eucharist the most Holy body and blood of our Lord that we partake every time we go to Mass.
God bless people like Dr. Pitre for his study and sharing his knowledge.
God bless
