It means to believe in the Bible Only. Catholics have the Bible, the Magesterium and also the Holy Spirit.
It would be the Protestants who are Sola Scriptura, they think they are to only look in the Bible ( usually the King James Version - a Protestant Bible that has fewer Books than out Catholic Bible ). They think they can read the KJV and the Holy Spirit will tell them what the Bible means…that’s why we have over 20,000 different Protestant Denominations. Sola Scriptura means scripture alone.
These who profess Sola Scriptura are deadly opposed to the Roman Catholic Magisterium ( the Bishops and the Pope). Protestants think they can , all alone, read a chapter and the will know better than the Bishops as to what a verse means. See Matt 16:18-19. Here is the beginning of the Church made up of the Pope, Bishops and the people.

Sola scriptura is the belief that only that which is found in the bible itself is truth, which is, in fact, contrary to what the bible says.
1 Cor. 11:2:
“I commend you because you remember me in everything and **maintain the traditions ** even as I have delivered them to you.”
2 Thess. 2:15:
“So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter.”
1 Timothy 3:15:
“You may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth.”
These traditions are found in the Church Jesus Himself founded on Peter, the Rock. The one, true, holy, Catholic and apostolic church.

Thanks to both of you for your responses. I have heard this phrase over the past few days and wondered what it meant. I heard it first at my partners church the other day. He is Seventh Day Adventist and I know they believe in “sola scriptura”. That is where I first heard it used. Thanks again.
