extaordinary ministers of HC consuming unused hosts

Whats the rul on this. I know there is a principle in sacramentology whereby the sacraments are something we receive - not take - but after a cimmunion run at the hospital - or after say a host is dropped at mass and the EMHC picks it up… can the EMHC consume the host - and if so is there a protocol. Does the EMHC say a silent “body of Christ, Amen” to themselves?
