I think it’s fine for a person who hasn’t been to the EF before or won’t have the opportunity on a regular basis. It’s what is provided when the EF is offered and it is sufficient for that. I don’t want to hold printouts from my computer when they have this available.

And if you want the OP to easily access those things link them. Sometimes I think the only reason people post is to tell someone, “WRONG!” and not actually offer a solution.

I’ve already suggested what he should do; show up and pray. No one needs a Missal for their first couple of EF attendances and if he wants one that common overpriced red one will likely be available. The ultimate Missal can be found here but one would likely need to have attended the Mass for some time to make much use out of it.

Jeez. I didn’t suggest the OP needed to buy it. But if they want to, there it is. The link also has an image so the OP can see what the “red missal” that was mentioned looked like.

Sorry for the late reply. It was a busy day yesterday and today. I went to the high mass yesterday as planned. It was amazing. It’s hard to put into words what I made me felt. Continued excitement would be the best way to describe it I suppose. The only real surprise was the asperges rite. (I think that’s what it’s called) Thankfully I sat in the back so I had time to figure out what to do. Overall it was more solemn. And everyone was more reverent than at my local parish. I’m looking forward to attending more so I can get a better handle on what’s happening with the different parts. I’ll definitely be driving the extra 20 mins to the local Benedictine monastery to attend their mass a several times a month.

Yeah, when I first went to a high Mass and the Asperges was done, I was like, “They does this every Sunday instead of just during Easter? Awesome!”

It’s also funny how some priests get really into it. One of our priests enjoyed basically drenching the congregation during the Asperges. 😁

I would recommend that you do what we advise Latin Rite Catholics do when they attend their first Eastern Divine Liturgy:

Listen carefully, copy the posture of those around you and forget about saying or singing anything.

but one would likely need to have attended the Mass for some time to make much use out of it.
Actually, I started using a missal the second time I attend the EF. I learned quickly after a few times the pace and flow of the Mass and how to best follow along - it was easier to learn than I thought it would be. My parish has both the red booklets and the Campion Missal available, but I bought the Baronius Press edition and use it all the time (actually, I now own several different missal editions, but Baronius is my favorite for regular use).

There will more than likely be red missalettes available in the back of the church or sometimes in the pews. For your first time just relax and follow other folks in the sit, stand, kneel routine. Enjoy the Mass and the quiet for personal prayer. If the red books are available try to follow along as best as you can but don’t let that be your sole source of effort. Hopefully, you will get to pray at a Sung High Mass. If so, let the music carry you. God Bless
