Extraordinary Masses in New Mexico? Reverent Ordinary Form Masses?

Lots of great news coming out of New Mexico! Not only did the Episcopal Church Bishop convert, Archbishop Sheehan has regularized an independent chapel. He put this in his pastoral letter, rather then doing it but just not saying anything, so now most people will at least be aware that the EF is available. Also, instead of replacing the former “indult” mass, that mass will continue so there will be two locations.

My question relates to a possible third EF Mass in Rio Rancho. One of the lists of EF Masses indicates there is one at 2PM at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Rio Rancho NM at 2 pm on Sundays. Nothing was mentioned about this on that parish’s website, or in the Archbishop’s letter, but I know that doesn’t necessarily mean there isn’t one there. Does anyone know? Also, does anyone know which Parishes in Albuquerque and Santa Fe offer the most reverent Ordinary Form Masses?

Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately, the 2 pm traditional Latin Mass at Thomas Aquinas in Rio Rancho was cancelled many years ago. It still shows up on some internet lists. So for now, there’s not an extraordinary form Mass there. However, Thomas Aquinas is one of the most orthodox and reverent churches in the diocese for the Ordinary form. Also, since the promulgation of Summorum Pontificum, I’ve heard a few people say that Thomas Aquinas might start offering the Extraordinary form again, at least on “special occasions.” I don’t know what the status is, however…you might want to try calling the parish office.

For Santa Fe, the two places I would most recommend for Mass are San Miguel Mission and the chapel of the Carmelite Monastery.

Hope this helps! Pax.

Thank you, santamonica! I would certainly appreciate any other information you, or any other listmembers, could give me about the TLM/Archbishop/Diocese in the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area. I’m thinking of buying a second home there.
