Found out the expiration date (2005) in Catholic Answers Purification of Vessels, the EMOHC were able to purify vessels. Are they no longer able with the expiration in effect? Do the priests/Deacons have to do it now? Also, we use crystal vessels(breakable) is this allowed? Also, is it ok to wash the vessels with soap and water after mass? Thanks!
 
This has been answered on CAF several times.
  1. The indult has expired, Cardinal Arinze’s letter on behalf of the Pope has made clear that the indult is not renewed.
  2. The GIRM is clear on sacred vessels: glass is not acceptable. 3. After the priest, deacon or invested acolyte has purified the sacred vessels, they may be washed with soap and water.
