Not a thread about liturgical reform, but a thread in response to many posts (my own included) that seek to find all the loop-holes and exceptions to the rules in Catholic moral philosophy.

People who see Catholicism as restrictive are facing the wrong way, constantly fighting against a wall that was put there for our good. If you just turn the other way, the way God wants you to be facing, towards doing good instead of doing evil, Catholicism is not restrictive but freeing.

If you go bungee jumping, if you look behind you all you’ll see is a wall with a bunch of restraints and safety equipment to stop you. If you look in front you’ll see why it’s needed!

Breaking down ages-old traditions is not progress. Moving forward towards greater and greater holiness, that’s progress.

Thank you for the insight. When I forceably turn the other way, the results are disasterous.

DL82, you are very wise!! I believe that is the key to finding happiness on earth guided by our beautiful church. Face the right way and she will be nothing but a guiding light to free us all!!

Excellent post DL! 👍 And nice imagery with the bungee jumping. 😃

I agree. So much of so-called “progress” has been nothing more than blind experimentation, with humans as the guinea pigs. Change for the sake of change and especially for the sake of the changers, many of whom simply want to be at the forefront of something regardless of where that something ultimately leads.

Even a Catholic has retained their ‘Free-Will’… this given by God.

The matter is more like, how does one treat one they love and that loves them?

And no human is immune from evil fully. The fact of thinking they are is called Pride.
