Peace be with you. This is Fr. Isaac Robert.

We see failure in life from a very negative point of view. This is because we think that we are the arbiter of our lives. If we are the arbiter of our lives then we become the god of our lives. When we become god of our lives, then the life puts a very serious question "Who created you, who are you? Front of this situation we see our selves lonely. The trick of the devil was same to Adam & Eve. It says God does not love you, God is jealous of you, you are God and that means you can do whatever you want. Every thing is good for you. Nothing is bad. All this are lies because he is the liar from the beginning.

The fact is that God loves you and hence we exist. It is God who has marked our history. God is there in our history since he is the God of our history. Whatever is happening cannot be comprehended by our reasoning but can be discerned by faith and God gives his life giving Spirit to us to guide us.

Courage God loves you.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Very good analysis fr. Isaac. I think that no matter how we prepare ourselves in life , God is always incontrol. Conflicts, tradgedies, broken dreams always come without us expecting it. All we can do is accept reality no matter how hard it is and always be faithful to the Lord…

I apologies, I saw the title of this thread and just assumed it was a prayer thread.

If you read the life history of Abraham Lincoln, it is remarkable for all the things he failed at before being elected president of the United States.

He failed and failed and failed — and he kept persevering.

There is something about the combination of failure, plus perseverance, that is transforming in a positive way.

i agree with this, but don’t understand how free will comes into play.

We should not see failure as a fault, but rather as an education,on our journey,
What can a traveller tell after his journey if he never failed, never became lost,
What would he have learned of life if he had never made a mistake,
How boring would a traveller be to listen to if he had only stayed in his motel room for fear
of committing sin,

i agree with this, but don’t understand how free will comes into play.
My take on this:

True love can only be given freely. If we look at it in a human relationship context, one cannot force another to love them, or respect them, or submit to them. However these things such as love can be freely given.

You are free to love God or not. You are free to choose Him or choose sin, everyday in every way. You are free to repent, ask for forgiveness and accept the forgiveness that is offered or not.

In the hierarchy of life God is at the top top top, you can choose to live your life that way (as a servant of the Almighty God) or you can choose to live your life as a servant of yourself (I can do what I want and I call my own shots).

The beautiful thing about it is that every time you fall into sin, as every person does, you can exercise you free will and choose Him again, knowing that He has chosen you (with all your faults) and He will never let you down. God will never reject you, He is waiting for you to exercise your free will and choose Him.

Perhaps the OP is better suited to answer but that is how I see it as a lay person.
