i own a supply house withe my family, would a $9.00 an hour + 9 hour over time + insurance for the worker only(not his family) would be a fair wage? take into consideration the work he does, does not need skill, but mostly lifting things, and it is not sressful. others get paid mor if they are mor skilled.

A thing is worth what a willing buyer will offer and a willing seller will accept.

Your accountant should be able to calculate your “burden rate.” That is the amount of money, expressed as a percentage you have to make over and above the salary you pay in order to make a profit. In many industries the burden rate varies from 100% to about 1,000%

So, for you to stay in business at a salary level of $9 an hour, the extra money you make from this person’s labor has to bring in somewhere between $18 and hour and $99 an hour.

If you pay more than the economic value of the labor, you will go broke. Now, since you say this is a family business, the family can choose to do that, but understand it’s charity, not business.

depends on who your target employee is and where you are located (different areas of the country have different costs of living) . some people will jump at the chance to recieve that mc money, some people will snub their noses at it. Put the job out there; if someone takes the job it is reasonable, if no one takes it - perhaps you need to raise the ante slightly.

Well, yes. Being that insurance is included for the worker. HOWEVER, if the company can afford it, the whole family should be covered.

Yes, and the employer who tends to pay little, and sometimes not even include health insurance for even the worker most of the time is the church here in the USA. For example a rectory receptionist has extra multi-tasks. However, not only must he deal with some nuts at times that come in the rectory who want to see a specific priest when they (the person) says so. But you also have to deal with at time sarcastic,authoritarian priests (that’s still sadly around especially in the DIOCESAN CLERGY parishes). Yet, they pay pennies, and most of the time no health insurance is included. THE CHURCH DOES!!! Talk about JUSTICE and Charity right???
