Fairy Tail and One Piece discussion thread

Hi anime viewers!
SPOILER ALERT. You’ve been warned.

After watching a list of animes with my husband, we are finally watching the first Fairy Tail (not the 2014 one) and we are hooked. We are in the part where a “familiar” of Lucy appears, I think her name is Michelle if I remember well.

As for One Piece, we are up to date with the latest episodes.I think the arc of Doflamingo has been the longest arc of One Piece.

I’m rooting for Gashio (however you spell it) and Levie (however you spell it) to become a couple already, and Grey with Juvia. But Natsu…I’m not sure, I think he will be better without a gf. I still haven’t accepted the return of Lasana. I thought there was gonna be some love rivalry between Lucy and Lasana over Natsu, but there isn’t and I, as a woman, find it disappointing.

Is it just me or does Lucy resembles Nami, and Natsu resembles Luffy?

I didn’t know you watched anime! I do too. I never got into One Piece, though I saw a several episodes. The art style bothered me a bit (too childish), I like my art and animation a bit cleaner/crisper).

I did watch two (?) seasons of Fairy Tail and really enjoyed what I saw, but I got tired of waiting for things to happen. It classic anime fashion things happen, but it doesn’t lead to any development, or development that disappears by the next episode.

Yay! Yeah, I watch shounen anime because I don’t enjoy reading the shounen manga. But I read josei and shoujo manga and manhwa, and if it has an anime, I watch it after I’m done reading.

I get what you mean about One Piece’s art. Its style was different from what I was used to watch or read, plus the characters were annoying, loud, and ridiculously dramatic. But I was pregnant with a husband that was on a long vacation and had nothing to do and I couldn’t find a good long shounen anime at the time. He isn’t an anime person but is slowly getting there. We got used to the style of the anime, but hubby says he enjoys more Fairy Tail. In fact, One Piece, compared to Fairy Tail, tends to drag things too much until you don’t have any motivation to click onto the next episode. It reminds me of Naruto Shippuden, waiting every week just to see that the new episode is more fillers, I think that’s the anime with more fillers than any other I have watched.

What’s your style, what do you like?

I think I have a pretty eclectic anime style. I love Naruto, lol, but I think it was easier to watch when it was on tv and I could just watch it as part of a regular tv watching schedule. But I do like some shounen (Bleach, Naruto, Shaman King), but there is some I don’t like (Attack on Titan, Dragonball Z). I like a bit of seinen (Ghost in the Shell, Darker than Black), I probably watch the shojo and josei the most (depending how you define where the line between those is. I started with Cardcapters and Princess Tutu, and really enjoy slice of life ( like ShiroBako) and light romantic anime.

I have enjoy anything from fighting shows, to slice of life or romance, to paranormal mystery type shows, fantasy, and even some harem or reverse harem shows (depending on the underlying story/setting).

Right now I am watching Snow White with the Red Hair, (I am also reading the manga). Which is a romantic story set in a fantasy world.

I have been most appreciative of mainstream streaming services carrying anime, like Hulu, or Funimation, so I don’t have to worry about whether it is legal or a virus. And I can try a show and finish it, or drop it, if I don’t like it.

Shamin King is very kidsie. (It aired around the same time pokemon, digimon, cardcapters, and Yugi-o!).

The Snow White anime has another season airing right now.

I saw Ghost in the Shell, in college and not in chronological order. Darker than Black I really enjoyed, but don’t watch the second season. I only started it, and didn’t like it at all).

I have seen some of Inuyasha. I saw some episodes in college. And watched the first 2-3 seasons last fall, but got bogged down.
