I was reading my Smartphone pocket devotional yesterday and really was struck by commentary. From the June 23rd entry of “Bible day by Day”:

*"For believers, reason and faith are no more contradictory than reason and love for lovers. Both believers and lovers follow an intuition that should not be unreasonable lest belief becomes superstition and love degenerates into sentimental puppy love.

Not walking along along the path of “Prudence, Strength, and Understanding” (eg. neglecting communication), usually proceeds drifting away from both the faith and love commitment. Check your walk."*

Both comments really struck home for me - for I am a geek by trade. I am very logical, black and white, and think in a “if X then Y” mentality.

Having been designed this way by God, I think it very ironic. For I truly struggle with true faith sometimes. I have a hard time exercising Prudence, Strength, and Humility to navigate the gray. Because my instinct causes me to try to judge black or white. The very thing that makes me unique makes me also want to push from God.

But on the other hand, once the step into faith was taken, I believe my faith is strong because I had to lay so much out there to take that leap.

I was a slow learner, but I did learn and I believe my delay in faith actually makes me stronger now.

So I thought I would post it here. Do others have this same experience?

I used to be confused about the “incompatibility” between faith and reason.

I used to think science can explain everything and if doesn’t agree with science , it can’t be true.

until a thought popped into my head.

“If God is omnipotent, omniscient and the creator of all things, then it makes sense that He was the one who made the laws of science in the first place. Science is subject to God but God is not subject to science. So miracles are reasonable after all.”

Since then, I was no longer confused 👍
