jesus says that those come to him only if the father draws them and that faith is a gift. if people don’t believe, is it because they have not received the gift of faith or God didn’t draw them? also in some parts of the bible, Jesus speaks of God’s elect and his chosen ones. does that mean some people are just left to go to hell without being chosen? sorry if this is a stupid question

I don’t think it’s stupid at all. I’ll be honest here, I don’t know too much about the subject. But, what I do know is that people choose whether or not they believe in God. God does and will always have faith in Him instilled in them, and from there, I believe it’s up to them. In a way, everyone is chosen, everyone is called; whether or not they answer God’s call or ignore it is solely up to them, IMO.

In many cases it is because they haven’t heard about the faith.
Or if they have, sometimes they don’t believe because of christian’s bad example.
We don’t know all the circumstances in regard to why or why not about the rejection of faith.
So we have to say, that those who know it and have rejected it thru their own fault are in a bad way. For it is wrong to reject the truth revealed to us by God.

So a general reply would be, for those who have never heard, that is between them and God.
This isn’t necessarily a good thing, for the faith gives strength and support to knowing and carrying out goodness which leads to heaven.

In regard to who goes to heaven or hell, that is still shrouded in mystery, because it has to do with reconcyling human free will and God’s providence. However the church teaches that God never predestines anyone straight to hell, but that they ellected thru sin to go to hell themselves. There have been volumns written on this subject. And that is one of the reasons for the church…to make clear what is complicated to figure out.

May God bless and keep you. May God’s face shine on you. May God be kind to you and give you peace.

I think that faith is partly an action. One must choose to believe. However, God does draw us to have faith.
