Ummm, no. I was only making conversation. Though it does bother me how silly unbelievers picture Lucifer.
I guess I don’t find it silly.
I think that the imagination is a huge part of who we are, our fears, our beliefs and so forth. I believe that evil things are not beautiful. So if I was going to draw something that was the personification of evil my art would be hideous and take on a very dramatic flair and become alot like what people visualize.

A priest told me one time that demons and Lucifer can take on any shape they want but God gives us clues. You could see a beautiful angel but it might have hooves, you could see a regular looking person with cold black eyes, you could see an animal wiht yellow or red eyes…the possibilities are limitless. With that being said Satin could actually take on one of the ‘silly’ forms that these people have imagined.

I don’t consider the angels to be at the level to love and hate. I respect their power as I respect a bear or a rattlesnake. A rattlesnake can kill you because of its nature. I don’t hate the snake or love it because it can kill or because it kills vermin. I don’t want to comment on the nature of certain angels , fallen or otherwise, but I don’t think they are created for that level of intimacy. IMHO, to love our enemy doesn’t apply to a creature such as a angel. Tim

I understand what you are saying, but it still just sounds like medevil superstition to portray luciefer or “demons” as hideous monsters. Heh, humans also could be portrayed like that, since wer’e evil to.

Though I am not defending Lucifer, obviously he’s my enemy, as my God tells me. I was just curious is all.

Keep on reading. Love, and pray – for your sake, not necessarily the other’s.
But that is exactly what I said…

"What would we pray for in regard to Satan, other than the strengthening of our Faith as to resist his temptation ? "

So we agree on the meaning of the passage. Or at least the ultimate result.

I know you’re not defending Lucifer. I know we are both on the same team. 🙂

I guess because I am a painter…actually I am not very good so I would rather say that I paint as a hobby I find this sort of thing fascinating. Often when painting a picture I will try to come up with a way to portray how good a thing is or how horrible a thing is and with that I let my imagination run wild and come up wiht things like you are talking about. It is part of the gift of creativity that God has bestowed on us so graciously. It is easier, for me anyway, to visualize evil in a hideous form than it is for me to explain to someone how evil something is.

With that being said I don’t think of it as medevil supersticion I think of it as a representation of evil through creativity. And if that image is truly terrifying for me, I wouldn’t put it past Lucifer to come to me at somepoint through a dream in that image. I wouldn’t rule anything out with evil.

And with respect to humans there are many, Hitler for instance, that in my mind IS a hideous monster. If I was to draw or paint or imagine him the image does come to me very hideous. Argh,I can’t even think about that dink!

When we’re attacked by Satan and “demons” it’s not truly a horned beast and little monsters with teeth.
St. Paul refers to them as “principalities, with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens.” Eph 6:12
Sometimes they take the form of words on a computer screen posted by people that frequent this forum. 😃
It’s simply powerful even beautiful fallen angelic beings, right? That want us to fall.
"But woe to you, earth and sea, for the Devil has come down to you in great fury, for he knows he has but a short time."
Then the dragon became angry with the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring, those who keep God’s commandments and bear witness to Jesus."

Everyone just always seems to make these attacks seem like fantasy, :goat-devils, beast-dragons, imp like creatures etc.
An exorcists (a Catholic priest) once told me that on one occasion he actually saw a demon appear in his bedroom & attacked him. He said it was like a large dark shadow. He also told me that once after an exorcism he performed, a group of 3 or 4 witnesses claimed to have seen a small greyish “devil” come out of the possessed persons mouth & fly away. 🤷
