Friend “A” is a fallen-away Catholic: non-practicing for many years, and is planning on marrying outside of the Church. The couples shower is coming up, and the friends of this Friend “A” are unsure of attending. Friend “A” does not show interest in returning to the Faith. What would you do?

Hi MarieCecelia 🙂

I would probably go to the shower. I understand the reasons why some people wouldn’t, but you never know how God will use you to get through to someone else. If the friends of Friend “A” are Catholic, you never know what could happen: Friend “A” might have a change of heart someday because of seeing the example of Christ’s love set by those friends.

I would speak to friend A, and explain that she is bound to the Church law concerning marriage by virtue of her baptism. I’d ask her to respect your faith enought not to expect you to voilate for the same of a party.
