What is it the bible says about false prophets? Here’s a great example of the false prophet known as the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. This was printed in 1920, after the time Jesus supposedly selected the WTBTS as his organization on earth (ha). So, for my faithful JW’s out there…how do you dodge around this?

The Jubilee – Page 87
An understanding of the Jubilee system which Jehovah innaugurated with Israel throws a great light upon the immediate future events…Their law was typical, foreshadowing greater and better things to come. The Lord commanded Moses to institute the Sabbath system the year that Israel entered the land of Canaan, which was 1575 years before A.D. 1…, and that every fiftieth year should be unto them a year of jubilee…Other Scriptures show that there were to be seventy jubilees kept. A simple calculation of these jubilees brings us to this important fact: Seventy jubilees of fifty years each would be a total of 3500 years. That period of time beginning 1575 before A.D. 1 of necessity would end in the fall of the year 1925, at which time the type ends and the great antitype must begin.
What then, should we expect to take place? In the type there must be a full restoration; therefore the great antitype must mark the beginning of restoration of all things…there will be a resurrection of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and other faithful ones of old, and that these will have the first favor, we may expect 1925 to witness the return of these faithful men of Israel from the condition of death, being resurrected and fully restored to perfect humanity and made the visible, legal representatives of the new order of things on earth.
So there ya have it. Before 1975, there was 1925 and they even bought a posh mansion for Abraham Isaac and Jacob.

The old geezers in Brooklyn really need to get to work interpreting the writings of Nostradamus. It’d be much more entertaining with less “fuzzy math”.

Though they made these predictions, when none of them came to fuitition, the “organization” blamed the jws themselves by claiming that they never actually did make the predictions but that the “flock” read into the wt writings what they themselves wanted to see. :whacky:
There was much admonishment from the “stage” and from the wt magazines.
After the failure of 1975, many left the wt and were called faithless apostates by the society.
It just goes on and on…

I found the following in a book called “Index of Watchtower Errors”. It’s full of quotations from the Watchtower, Awake and other Witnessess publications with the date and pages noted.
I made the emphasis to show how they claim the the dates of the prophesies are God’s and not man’s. Also notice how conveniently their members or “the brothers” are accused of misreading what was quoted when things didnt pan out as prophesied.

“…the Scriptural declaration that the Millennium of peace and blessing would be introduced by forty years of trouble, beginning slightly in 1874 and increasing until social chaos should prevail in 1974.”

“The date of the close of that ‘battle’ is definitely marked in Scripture as of October, 1914. it is already in progress, its beginning dating from October 1874.”
Code:
 **WT 7/15/1894 PG 1677**
There is no reason for changing the figures: they are God’s date, not ours: 1914 is not the date for the beginning, but the end.
Code:
 **WT 9/15/1901 PG 2876**
The trouble in October 1914 is clearly marked in Scriptures: the severe trouble to start no later than 1910, with severe spasms between now and then.

**“The year 1925 is here. With great expectation Christians have looked forward to this year. Many have confidently expected that all members of the body of Christ will be changed to heavenly glory during the year. This may be accomplished. It may not be.” (Here they are starting to back off)
WT 8/1/1926 PG 232
Some anticipated the work would end in 1925. The Lord did not so state. (See WT 7/15/1922 PG 17)
1975 YEARBOOD PG 146
“The year 1925 came and went. Jesus’ anointed followers were still on earth as a class. The faithful men of old times–Abraham, David and others–had not been resurrected to become princes in the earth. (Ps. 45:16) So, as Anna MacDonald recalls: ‘1925 was a sad year for many brothers. Some of them were stumbled: their hopes were dashed…Instead of its being considered a “probability” they read into it that it was a “certainty.” And some prepared for their own loved one with expectancy of their resurrection.”

   **1980 YEARBOOK PG 62**
“…Brother Rutherford…May 1-3 1926…”It was stated in the “Millions” book that we might reasonably expect them to return shortly after 1925, but this was merely and expressed opinion. A mistake had been made, but as Brother Rutherford stated, this was no reason to stop serving the Lord.”
I questioned some Witnesses about this once and they claim that there have always been false prophets and that all these quotes were taken out of context. I asked them how do they know that the prophets they have now are not false and they didnt have an answer. Their jehovah must be a really mixed up dude that cant seem to give their leaders the true messages, or is it their leaders? Who is to say that the leaders will not make changes every year. Notice… “A mistake had been made… but no reason to stop serving the Lord”
