At Mass we gather together as a church family to participate in a common worship experience. We have a collective memory of Christ’s passion and death and we celebrate that moment in time together as the Eucharist. Family life is similar, wouldn’t you say? In the domestic church (i.e., our homes), we also gather together for meals. We share common memories and experiences. We strive to love one another as Christ loved the Church. Everyone in a family has different gifts but we are stronger as a family when everyone shares them to benefit common life, just as the Body of Christ is stronger and more beautiful when we each use our respective gifts to better the Church. Just my own thoughts; I imagine there are countless ways to extend the analogy.
God bless you for helping your daughter prepare for her first Holy Communion!
