So we have no Catholic family, and being new to the Church ourselves, we never had a family Bible. Of course, we each have our own Bibles, but no big family Bible. It just wasn’t something we did in our evangelical background. We were so touched yesterday when a woman we know from our parish gave us a family Bible she had found when going through her mother’s belongings (her mother just recently passed). So I was just wondering, what do Catholics do with their family Bibles? Do you use them for family Bible study, or simply display them somehow? If you set them out, what does that look like in your home? Or do they just go on the shelf like any other large book? We did have the Deacon bless it already.

Ours goes on our mantle, which is our family prayer table (there’s a great book about this called The Little Oratory.) We use it during family prayers. 🙂

It’s no good for your family on the shelf.
Read it together. Or have your husband read a passage after dinner each night. Create some tradition.

Welcome to a Church! The beauty of the Catholic Church is that there is a place for everyone! I would simply ask the Holy Ghost to better guide you.

I would purchase a 1962 Roman Missal. They have better guidance on how to use it as well as daily meditations on what prayers to use in relation to the bible. There is no one right answers. It’s whatever is true for you, it’s true.

The Catholic Church simply means Universal Church. It’s a corporation that engulfs other beliefs, religions and such into one snowball. You can pick and choose the spirituality that fits you. The goal is the unity of the worldwide Church.
