Interesting article “Cut the ****” on the self-pity thing I read online. Yes, we need to snap out of it and stop self-pitying ourselves. Its life, its not a picnic. If you are in good health and have food, that is all you need. My grandmother fell and ended up in the hospital last night. She should be okay. Hit her head, and bled quite a bit.
Things are heated in our family business, and my boss is in a bad mood, and acting flaky. I visit Pearl Harbor veterans once a month, all near 100, as they will all be dead soon, and now it looks like I can’t see my friends again until May, and a couple of them might be dead by then. This is because my boss was getting angry, says he has been more then generous, but we have to run our business like a business, and the day before I was to leave for the meeting today he tried to cancel it on me today, and then when I get back early today like he asked, “surprise”, you can’t see them at all for all tax season, so we got into a little bit of heated exchange where I said, does that mean I can’t go on my trip to Mexico next weekend? I wouldn’t put it past my Dad to cancel it on me, my way or the highway, or your fired if you don’t do what I say. I feel engulfed with emotions of acting immature and rash, very upset, and like I don’t care anymore. I am tired of always being dependent on him. Half of us are broke. Women look down on dependent and whiny men.
Yes, I know what your thinking, who are you to oppose your boss. You’d be fired from McDonald’s in a heartbeat. I kept my cool, but I was furious. I then added by just saying, let me be blunt, you are finicky. And he said he knows it. At least he should let me be able to see my veterans again in May. We have management issues and the boss tends to change his mind quite a bit.
I feel trapped in an almost hopeless situation where at 31 I still am not making enough to support myself, let alone a family. That should change with my Dad acting like a drill sargeant for our business, I hope. I think God is calling me to make major self-improvements in my work habits and family relationships before I consider throwing in the towel and trying a new career or something else in my 30s.
Maybe this is a way for God to make me grow humble, stop whining, be positive, count my blessings, and its not the end of the world. To give a little and I plan to make major improvements in my performace.
I really had a good year. Cars, staying with friends up north.
Well, its not that bad. Yes, I am kinda venting cause I don’t want to burden my parents with issues. I honestly don’t feel I can talk to them much anymore, nor do I want to as it makes me feel vulnerable.
My Dad says in our family business we need to stop being burger jockeys and get organized and yada yada yada. He doesn’t know how to gracefully get his point across, or see what the hidden issues are with tax stuff. He just acts like a drill sergeant and now wants to withold paychecks until we get our stuff together. Nobody knows how to communicate or manage, and Dad bails everyone out financially on a regular basis. We are being hit with government penalties and interest because of foul-ups. A lot of angry conversations, sometimes shouting, blaming, and poor management. I know who dropped the ball, but would good does it do for me to beat him up over it.
I have been so angry at times that I feared for my sanity, that I might snap. Fight or flight mode.
My parents are overwhelmed right now, and I am worried about my grandmother. She scares me half to death. Never listens, and weighs 90lbs at 88. She fell into a rabbit cage two days ago. I worry for her a lot now. She was screaming in terror in the hospital, like a poor frightened child.
All I want out of life (at least what I THINK will make me happy), and God knows better, is to make enough money to marry and raise a family. But, I don’t think that is going to happen the way things are going, but I want to at least feel happy with myself that at least I took manly initiative and improved my work habits and family relationship. I gotta do something at 31.
Your prayers are appreciated. Pray for this Angeleno that he keeps his sanity and stays on the straight and narrow.
