Family has nasty flu, I only have mild symptoms- Go to mass?

These past several days my family has been hit by this terrible flu that has two members down in bed and almost everyone else experiencing the symptoms by Yesterday. I only started feeling the cough symptoms yesterday and a few other mild body aches yesterday myself. I have started taking some medicine. I don’t feel too sick to go to mass- but I’ve seen some people here in the past say to stay home if you have some contagious illness. Should I go? 🤷
 
Just use your judgement. If you work and are sick you need to consider if you have the strength to carry out your tasks and if your illness could spread to others. If someone in your household is sick you need to consider if their illness has affected their ability to take care of themselves, or if they are too young to be left home alone, both of which will require you to stay home as a carer.

Try and transfer the same thinking to Mass. 🙂
 
Your flu can easily be passed on to others at church - some of whom may catch it as hard as your other family members have done. Stay home.
 
Stay home, rest, make a spiritual communion, and take care of your sick family members.
 
Stay home. May God watch over you all and help you return to full health.
 
Stay Home and care for your family. May God’s healing graces work their wonders for you.

No. If you are starting to show symptoms you might already be sick. Bear in mind that a large population of the people at mass have weaker immune systems – lots of children, lots of older folks – and you showing up could potentially endanger them. In the spirit of charity, stay home; better yet, stay home and watch a mass broadcasted on local TV or EWTN.
 
NO! Please, as a nurse, I ask you not to infect all those that will be sitting around you at mass. I think they would all thank you and be appreciative of your staying home until your symptoms are all gone. 🙂
 
I would say you should stay home too. You are probably contagious. But also please stay in your house and don’t drop in at the local coffee shop or store. I have been in line behind people who were announcing that they were very, very ill and once caught a horrible case of the flu from someone in a grocery store line.

Why would you want to expose parishioners - some of whom might have compromised immune systems - to the bug that’s running through your family?

Please act responsibly and stay home.
