Family Planning

An important detail which is missing from most discussions concerning Natural Family Planning is intention. Contraception is intrisically evil because by its nature it causes the separation of the unitive and procreative elements of marital union. Always wrong - No exceptions. Natural Family Planning, however, is not a certain action but a ‘program’ so to speak. It is not contraception, since it in no way separates the unitive and procreative elements, when the marital embrace occurs.
This certainly does not mean that it is never selfish to withold marital love from ones spouse because, heaven forbid, a baby might result. A potential moral issue with NFP can very well be the possibility of insufficient reason or improper mindset for purposely trying to avoid pregnancy. Not that any act of marital embrace is sterilized, which it isn’t

I think you are wrong. In one of its official documents, the Catholic Church denounes contraception as shameful, vicious, and a horrible crime.

Check out Pope Pius XI encyclical “Casti Connubii”:
  1. But no reason, however grave, may be put forward by which anything intrinsically against nature may become conformable to nature and morally good. Since, therefore, the conjugal act is destined primarily by nature for the begetting of children, those who in exercising it deliberately frustrate its natural power and purpose sin against nature and commit a deed which is **shameful **and intrinsically vicious.
  2. Small wonder, therefore, if Holy Writ bears witness that the Divine Majesty regards with greatest detestation this **horrible crime **and at times has punished it with death. As St. Augustine notes, “Intercourse even with one’s legitimate wife is unlawful and wicked where the conception of the offspring is prevented. Onan, the son of Juda, did this and the Lord killed him for it.”
Oh, welcome back! I am heading out of town to go camping so I am going to miss this whole debate. 😦

What you do not understand about these documents and contraception in general could fill volumes and volumes and volumes. It seems that you are advocating here that sins against nature should not be condemned as shameful and vicious? For 1900 years all Christian churches condemned contraception as a horrible crime. Your group changed its teaching based on nothing and in violation of Scripture, and yet we as Catholics, are to be condemned?

Please do the real research on contraception. Research Malthus and his overpopulation myth of the 1850s. Research Planned Parenthood founder Marget Sanger’s Birth Control Review of the 1920s and 1930s. See for yourself her strong ties to the eugenic practices of Hitler’s Nazi Germany. See for yourself her “Negro Project” aimed at eliminating the black race through contraception and forced sterilization. See this site blackgenocide.org/negro.html for how her horrible racist ideas are still affecting her targets today.

Learn the pet phrases of the contraception movement, “Birth control-To create a breed of thoroughbreds.” and the other pet phrase still used behind closed doors at Planned Parenthood, “Birth control-More from the fit, less from the unfit.” I’m sorry to inform you Mr. Mizzi, but if your last name is as Italian as mine, you and I would have been considered, “unfit.” PP (Planned Parenthood) sought to “eliminate the feeble-minded Italians with their hyper-fertility.”

Learn how hard PP has fought to retain their coined term “birth control” in modern society instead of a term like, “conception control.” Why “birth control?” Because they advocate for abortion with their horrible term of controlling births. “Birth control” is a secular term coined by racists, abortion advocates, and eugenicists. If you call yourself a Christian I would suggest learning the foundation of the term and consider abandoning it yourself for the sake of your flock. And by the way, “birth control” by their definition encompasses everyone. One of the groups PP was so mad at in the 1930s were intelligent people who had chosen celibacy. This form of “birth control” was preventing the ‘more fit’ intelligent people from reproducing. The advocates of contraception were and are promoting sexual indulgence at all levels. The term fornication, means nothing to these groups. Are you sure you want to hitch your wagon to THAT horse?

And finally, watch for yourself. Across ALL denominations, Christian and non-Christian, contraception users hold the 50% average divorce rate very steadily. Users of Natural Family Planning or those who just wing it have a less than 5% divorce rate. THAT number difference is just too big to ignore.

The contraception issue is the one that brought me back in full union with the Catholic Church. I did the research from secular and non-Catholic Christian sources and found out an important fact: The Catholic Church is RIGHT! If you are serious about leading people to truth, please do the research. With what I have presented here you just might start to get your feet wet by the time I get back in town around the 26th. I would be happy to have a head to head with you on this topic. Until then there’s a lot of homework for you to catch up on so you can stop presenting misguided interpretations to your flock.

God bless you in your search for authentic Truth.

For those interested, Joe Mizzi dedicates a good portion of his life to bashing the Catholic church. His WebSite is self-explanatory.

www.justforcatholics.org

He is in no way interested in learning the truth about the Church. He disregards reason and has a one-track mind. To pull people away from Christ’s Church through lies and misinformation.

You are right – the end does not justify the means. But we are discussing why the “artificial” means are intrinsically evil, whereas the “natural” methods are not.

You said that “the marriage act is designed to be a loving, faithful and fruitful EVERY time.” Is that really so?

Is the marriage act designed to be fruitful throughout the monthly cycle? After all, NFP is based on the well known scientific fact that the woman is NOT fertile during part of the cycle.

And what about women after menopause? Is the marriage act designed to be fruitful at this time also?
One of the reasons that I have kept in mind all the time since I found out was that, for instance, the pill, forces your body to be a certain way. What I mean by this is that the pill causes for many many many side effects. One side effect being that it causes for the ligning of the uterus to become weak, therefore, if you become pregnant, the chances of having a misscarriage are high. This is turn is going against God’s will given that the life has already begun, but because of the pill, the life will and might be terminated. Many doctors don’t tell you the significant side effects of many/several contraceptives. It is not against the law for them not to tell you.

Joe, your view of contraception is a reflection of your church “The Christian Church of Joe Mizzi” You make up the rules. You follow no other authority but yourself (oh yeah, the bible also that “you” interpret). You have picked and chosen the beliefs you like. You interpret the Bible the way you want to see it. Your spiritual guide is yourself. You approve of artificial birth control because intercourse between a man and a woman is a gift for you alone.

It is a gift from God, for procreation, between a man and wife. You seem to take God and Procreation out of the equation.

The more and more I think about your calling to take people away from the one holy catholic and apostolic church, the more I fear there are other powers behind your motives. You are really starting to scare me.
