Does anyone know the background of the Family Research Council, www.frc.org ? Is it affiliated with a particular religious denomination? What are the backgrounds of its leaders? I get bulk mail from them, and they appear to be very active working for pro-life and the sanctity of marriage and families. However, I know that things aren’t always what they seem and don’t want to wind up supporting an organisation that is questionable.

Thanks

Click on this web page from your above site for the mission and history of this organization:

frc.org/get.cfm?c=HISTORY_ABOUT

It is more strongly affiliate with evangelical Chrisitian denominations, such as Dr. James Dobson & Gary Bauer as former notable founders/directors.

Focus on the Family spun off FRC many years back so that they could separate their lobbying from their other work. FRC does some good work, but they are extremely well funded. If you are looking for a solid Catholic family organization to support contact Saint Joseph’s Covenant Keepers (www.dads.org). Steve Wood is terrific. Also: One More Soul is a great organization dedicated to spreading the Church’s teaching on contraception. Both of these outfits do great work and they are badly underfunded. FRC is a multimillion dollar operation that is too close in my view to the Republican party.
