Fan Button (track your favorite user)

Every now and then you come a cross a poster that you really like and would like to keep track of, but it is perhaps more effort than necessary to keep up to date on their latest post or thread. This is not to put down the usual methods of keeping track, but if there is an easier way for posters to track only who they are interested in, then why not? At the moment we only receive updates from the threads we have subscribed to. And what if you don’t want to subscribe to a whole thread, but only want to receive knowledge of updates or posts from a particular forum user?

Imagine a button that appears on the title bar of each poster, a bit like in “you tube” where you can subscribe to a particular user to watch their videos. That way i can follow the progress of my favorite poster and i don’t have to join a whole thread in order to keep track of any one poster in particular.

I don’t see any other forums doing this, so you could be the first!!

Any one think a “fan button” (become a fan by clicking here) is a good idea?

If you do, then everybody nag the hell out of the forum administrator to implement it.

Not a bad idea.

In the meantime, I suppose you may have considered a quick way to do this would be to open that person’s “find all posts by…” page (via their profile page - statistics tab). Then bookmark that page and open it from that bookmark link whenever you’re online.

Of course, that doesn’t help notify you that there are new posts by him/her, but it atleast is a one-click easy method for checking on their latest musings, without having to subscribe to any new thread, and without having to go through the hassle of finding their new posts from scratch each time you’re on CAF.

So, you just make that link a bookmark on your browser, and it’s just one-click away as soon as you come online.
