Hope you are all having a blessed Good Friday. It’s only my third as a Catholic and I must be honest I didn’t think about fasting. I’ve had a salad bowl for lunch but then a large slice of chocolate cake . I’m also up to 36 weeks of pregnancy and fasting is not on my mind and with me not being able to get to mass and among others I must say things have slipped in my faith life. I’m going to donate to charity later today and pray for the church and the world - do you think I need to confess not fasting when I next get to confession. Anyone else feel further away from God lately it’s hard not going to mass

While you are not required to fast due to pregnancy it may be possible to make a better choice than chocolate cake. You do need to confess this but something to keep in mind.

Have you ever been pregnant ? 😃 you can take that chocolate cake out of my cold dead hands 😂

No seriously everyone thanks for the replies. I do about an hours walk per day as govt allows so not gonna feel too bad. Will remember next year to fast

🤣 🤣 everybody is different. When I was pregnant chocolate was making me 😷 but I was addicted to whatever had curry in it… 😋

Fasting is to be penitential and reverent; it is not something to place yourself or your child in danger over. If anything, a pregnant woman would have an obligation NOT to fast.

Is you husband Catholic?

One of my grandmothers use to complain about my mother because she would go places with them and get something just for herself to eat. She would say “I would have gotten you something but I knew that you were fasting.” That was because the laws of fasting and abstinence do not apply to those who are pregnant.

Pregnancy, you’re not suppose to lose weight. Weight loss causes your fat to burn, which releases Ketones, which can cause retardation. (high levels) Now, don’t go too much over 20#. You’ll be sorry if you do.
May the Father grant you a healthy, holy, happy pregnancy. in Jesus name. Amen
