That was an excellent story about monks, and a tribute to the practice of fasting.

I’m not reading the article because the site has popups. How is this ‘only beer’ fast different from an ‘only water’ fast?
 
Wouldn’t that just leave you buzzed the entire time?
I can’t imagine drinking four of any drink.
Admittedly I’m a light-weight.

Aside from the buzz factor, beer actually has a considerable amount of nutritional value. That said, it is a little short on fiber.

This would be unfiltered beer, and the yeast will help with the, err, digestive issues from lack of fiber.

It’s also a rather heavy beer.

Being unfiltered, it will have significant amounts of huge proteins (these get filtered out over the haze these days).
