Father Kapaun devotion?

Do you have a favorite prayer that you use when you ask for Father Kapaun’s intercession? Do you use one of the prayers recommended by the Wichita Diocese?

My go-to prayer is: “Father Kapaun, help me!” But I wonder if I should use one of the diocesan prayers.

You may use any prayer you want to pray for Fr. Kapaun’s intercession, and/or in support of his sainthood cause. This is a suggested prayer that is also meant to educate people about who Father Kapaun was, in hopes of spreading devotion to him.

Usually the prayers promulgated for a Servant of God will contain some stuff about the person and will ask God to please advance the cause of the person, as this prayer does.

However, God would hear you just as well if you said, “Fr. Kapaun, pray for me! God, please make Fr. Kapaun a canonized saint, if it be your will.”

I say regular Hail Marys for the quick beatification of Archbishop Sheen. I’m sure there is an official prayer for his canonization, but I can only remember so many prayers, and he had a great devotion to Mother Mary, so I can simply say the Hail Mary for the cause and say “Archbishop Sheen, pray for us” etc.

As for Fr Kapaun, I have him on my list of persons whose canonizations I pray for. Every year a couple people move up the list to the next category, or get canonized and move over to my saints list instead. So the prayers must work.
