This Father’s Day I am celebrating by calling my Mother and sharing happy memories about my Father. Rest In Peace, Dad, May 28, 2005. Thank you for being my dad.

My kids and I am taking my husband, the father of my children, out for a nice meal. We’ll go to the restaurant where our eldest is working and ask for her to be the waitress.

I will be visiting my father in law’s grave and I will be praying for both at Mass this weekend. We are having a late afternoon picnic barbecue with my daughters and their families tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow morning I am making breakfast after we get back from the Church and cemetery for my husband.

I will think of him as I always do. He passed away 2 years ago. And this year I got a pin to wear on my work uniform that will comfort me.

Hey Pop…how 'bout them Yankees??

Being a good daughter (like I always should be, but sometimes have a hard time being…)

My Dad passed away 6 years ago. So, I’ll honor him by praying for him and remembering him.

For my dh, the kids made him a bunch of cards and gave him some little presents. We’ll go to the Mass he likes ( a Sunday night Mass) and then out to dinner at restaurant of his choice. We’ll let Dad take a nice nap and do whatever he wants without bugging him for the rest of the day.

My 12 year old son put flowers on his Daddy’s grave after Mass this morning.

When Father asked all the dads (and those taking on the role of dad) to stand for a special blessing, I could see tears rolling down my son’s cheeks. He knows in his heart that his dad is in heaven, but as he has told me many many times, “I wish God could have waited till I grew up before taking my dad from me, I still need him”.

mkw, this is just heartbreaking. God bless your precious son. I will keep you and him in my prayers.

First, by participating in Mass and offering the Mass for him.

Second, by calling him and spending some time on the phone with him. During that conversation I will remind him that I love him.

Third, I sent a card.

Love & peace,
Bob

For my dad, I will call my mother in a few minutes.

My oldest two sons honored me by going to work and earning some money, an activity of which I approve.

The oldest daughter honored me by taking turns with her mother doing yard work to help me out.

The three youngest honored me by playing and being delightful and giving me cards and hugs and everything.

Oh, yes, five out of six children and my wife came with me to 8:00 Mass and my oldest son and daughter were cantor while I played piano and organ.

My dad has been in full time ministry all of his life – he began singing Gospel Music on the radio at age 9, and has given his entire life to others. As he is getting a bit older – in his late 60’s – he has some physical aches and pains that have limited his ability to hunt and fish they way he did as a young man. To make it easier on him, I was able to get a good deal on a used 12 ft. flat bottom fishing boat with a trailer and 3 HP motor. The man has never owned any kind of boat in his life, and would never spend money on one. We will surprise him later this week -

Shhhh – don’t tell him!

Hung out with him in the hospital all weekend staying in his room. He had his hip replaced on Friday and is still recovering.
