Belief in the apparitions is not a prerequisite for salvation, nor being a good Catholic.

Most of the apparitions have to do more with conveying a message for the time.

At the time of Fatima, WWI was going on and there was much evil in that war.

Portugal was on the edge of atheism which was being pushed by the government.

The apparitions stopped that, but WWI went on for another year, despite the visionaries saying that the Blessed Mother told them it would end on the last apparition.

Either way, stay Christ centered as you say. The Holy Spirit is the guide for us and through the Church, the fullness of revealed truth is known.

People tend to exaggerate the truth or completely fabricate things from time to time-Cathilics included.

Be careful that you don’t start doubting the Catholic faith on account of private revelation. That would be a temptation.

Oh yeah, definitely many believe in Fatima!
All approved apparitions are worthy of belief I think, but you need not believe them.

adgloriam, you seem like the perfect person to help me here. Thanks for the great info. I might get that book. And you’re really lucky to be able to read the original documents in Portuguese. I’m jelly.
