I was just kind of randomly curious about looking into Fatima when I saw this video. It talks about Fatima and says how Russia wasn’t consecrated like it was supposed to and how the third secret wasn’t released in 1960 like it was supposed to since "it would make more sense then, or something like that. It seems to imply the secret was about dogma not being preserved in the church or something and was around Vatican II, but I don’t really know enough about Vatican II or Fatima to know what I think about the implication or well, a lot of other things that I need to. On a positive side is how God rewards our work or efforts of prayer and the power of the rosary. I just thought people would be interested and wasn’t sure were else to put it. I’m basically just curious and looking into Fatima and that kind of thing if anybody else knows some good resources please post them!

End your curiosity by going to: www.fatima.org or email at info@fatima.org and request the small story magazine THE TRUE STORY OF FATIMA

. . .how the third secret wasn’t released in 1960 like it was supposed to since "it would make more sense then, or something like that. . . .!
As I recall, there was permission to reveal it after 1960, but no mandate to do so.

Question though: If Pope JPII consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, didn’t they also consecrate Russia as well by extension? Like, isn’t Russia part of the world, obviously? Because then in that sense Russia WAS consecrated, wasn’t it?

It’s addressed in the video I link to.

Short answer: A consecration must mention the object it intends to consecrate. We’ve seen some good effects come from the consecration of the world (again - Pius XII did it in the 50’s also) but the conversion of Russia will not take place until Russia is consecrated.

When a Bishop wants to consecrate a specific Church he doesn’t go out and say “I consecrate all the Churches in my Diocese. Amen.” A consecration is specific and Our Lord is asking for humility and not political correctness and fear of offending the Russians
which is the reason for mentioning the world and not Russia specifically.

The 1984 consecration of the world incorporates by reference the 1952 consecration of Ven. Pius XII, which does mention Russia by name.

Apparently, there are those who think the world events that followed the 1984 consecration aren’t as dramatic as they should have been if they had been attributable to the consecration. As one who is old enough to remember the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the fall of Communism, I find it hard to understand this. What took place in 1989-1991 was one stunning reversal after another for Communism. I was in college at the time, and I can distinctly remember my German professor – who was from what was then East Germany, and who was by no means out of touch with events in her homeland – stating her belief that the Wall would never come down. Two weeks later – boom. The Wall came down. Before 1991 was over, the Soviet Union itself was no more. You can’t give the credit for all this to Gorbachev, a life-long Communist whose intention was anything but presiding over the liquidation of the Soviet empire.

And yet…there is no denying that the world is not free of turmoil. Is there still a lot of evil left in the world after the fall of Soviet Russia? Of course there is. The Blessed Mother never said there wouldn’t be. We have to wait for the End of Time for the complete eradication of all evil. Is post-Soviet Russia a paradise of Christendom? Nope. But then, we have to remember that the Blessed Mother’s promises were conditional. We had our part to do, and the fulfillment of the promises depended upon us holding up our end. Perhaps if we had done what she asked – prayed, done penance, said the Rosary – then the collegial consecration would have taken place early enough to prevent Russia from spreading her errors all throughout the world. As it was, the consecration was done late, so we have not been spared the proliferation of Russia’s errors and the attending consequences.

And we’re still not listening to the message of Fatima. Now we have sunk even further into decadence and degeneracy, with promiscuity, contraceptives, abortion, euthanasia, divorce, and all kinds of sins not only being committed, but also institutionalized and protected by law. How can we think we deserve the peace the Blessed Mother promised us unless we straighten up and stop offending God?
