Faulty beliefs and acts of the JW

I’d like to replace this thread as a continuation to “are JW’s really Christians?” since i dont see it recently now.

Can you people give me copies of Watchtower publications that contradicts their OWN beliefs? as well as their blunders throughout their 100+ year history?

I can really say that these people are really judgmental, and self righteous.

I asked a JW friend, that why do they believe the HS is a force since the HS can act, like speak, feel hurt, love, guide, to name a few. Sadly though, i guess, through years of conditioning, led her to say that a “force” can guide us, a force can “dwell” in us, a force can “love” us.

just one of their poor excuses.

Who are we to say who is and who is not a follower of Christ? Isn’t this the way that Fundamentalists argue? Should we just be sharing the truth with love rather than spending effort condemning other people?
 
yeah, your’e actually right. I just feel the want, since their doctrines are exposed already as “biblical illiteracy”
 
Ask for friend for a copy of “Reasoing from the Scriptures”, even in that they talk about the name Jehovah and how it’s not Gods true name.

If you look in their New World Translation, you will see in John that it says, In the begining was the Word and the Word a god.

They don’t beleive Jesus is God.

When asked What about when Jesus says, “The Father and I are one.”

They come up with all kinds of other “Verses” to combat that verse. Even when Thomas, sees Jesus and he (Thomas) says, "My Lord and My God. If Jesus wasn’t truely God, then Jesus would have corrected Thomas, but he (Jesus) didn’t. They also “over look” this.

They are very nice people and it’s sad that they “Refuse” to be good listeners. It’s sad that they want “Us” to do Bible Studies with them…but only if it’s “One Way.” They don’t want to “look up” anything we have to say or talk about that.

I pray that someday they will find that if they want to share, then they have to be willing to listen to others as well.

I have to say I love it when they visit–they don’t visit often enough! I think they are genuinely looking for God and genuinely nice people. When the share the Gospel with me I share it right back and try to “develop” their understanding, not by belittling them, but by trying to show them the fullness of it we benefit from in the Catholic Tradition! 🙂
 
What I don’t understand is that they believe that precisely 144,000 people will be saved in the end times yet according to wikipedia they claim to have about 7 million JW worldwide. Why are they still recruiting??

From memory…144,000 will go to heaven, the rest of them get to live forever in the Kingdom here on earth remade (lion laying down with the lamb and all that). That’s why the whole sales spiel is “Live forever in Paradise”.
 
I had the chance to speak with a Jehovah’s Witness once. My husband and I were walking down the street and two women were going the opposite direction. One approached us, and she asked me what I thought was wrong with the world. I replied “sin,” and she then asked if they could come to our house to talk more. I pointed to our house, and told her when we’d be there. She handed me a magazine, and said they would stop by, but they never did. I still can’t figure out why they never showed up.
 
yes, I have studied with them for several weeks. This friend of mine keep inviting me to their house for some fun chatting, dinner, etc… i dont mind it, she has been a long-time friend of mine. but the funny thing is, one a week when i visit them, her dad never slips a chance to “teach” me the bible.

I notice that they rest their ideas with…

since this verse say this and this one says that, it leads us to say…
since this verse says the otherwise, it would logically mean…
since this verse relates with the one here, it is most likely right to assume…

all personal assumptions, and i really enjoy it (the bible study i mean) because it gives me the opportunity to preach to them the other way around with more solid evidences…

about the 144,000 people who will go to heaven…

The jw’s believe that when we die, the soul dies along with it… no conscience, no heaven (for commoners), purgatory or hell. only the selected “anointed ones” which are the 144,000 may have hopes of going to heaven to be kings and priests when they die. The rest who does not belong to this “royal crowd” remains dead, nothing, empty, asleep and it remains that way until judgment day where the dead shall be resurrected.

some questions though i also had in mind, why do they believe that these 144k are the only ones going to heaven?

what is the Catholic understanding or belief of these 144,000 anointed ones?

I believe they say 144,000 go to Heaven, the others inherit the earth and the rest stop existing.
