Favorite Adoration Hymns

I am working with my pastor to put on a monthly Eucharistic Adoration in the evening in the parish for families, youth and those who cannot make it to adoration during the day.

I am trying to come up with a list of good hymns (latin or english) that could be sung to foster a prayerful atmosphere. I want to stay away from the typical praise and worship songs used at youth masses and be more towards the Gregorian chant, meditative style of music.

Any suggestions?

P.S. The context for the hymns would be as follows

Opening hymn

I love the following, you may try them.
  1. Amazing grace, how sweet…
  2. Blessed assurance Jesus is mine,
 
Jesus, My Lord, My God, My All (Sweet Sacrament)
At that First Eucharist
O Sacrament Most Holy (and all the other hymns that stem from it)
Gift of Finest Wheat

The Servant song will bring an air of draw to the eucharist and christ. It’s not chant…it’s just a song thats words and melody speak directly to your soul.
 
Ave Verum Corpus (Hail the True Body)

The Byrd/Elgar arrangement is sublime but the Mozart arrangement is probably easier to sing. Either would be a fine choice.

Holy God We Praise They Name is the traditional recessional hymn for benediction. 👍
 
+1 for what the two posters above said about Holy God We Praise Thy Name. That is often used at the close of benediction as the Blessed Sacrament is being reposed.

I assume you would use Latin plainchant for the settings of the O Salutaris and Tantum Ergo which is easy and suits the contemplative nature of this service. The words can also easily be set to popular traditional hymn tunes, such as the Tantum Ergo to Piccardy (often used for Let All Mortal Flesh keep Silence a great Anglican Eucharistic hymn- also suitable as a preparatory hymn) : cyberhymnal.org/htm/l/e/letallmf.htm

For the other two earlier hymns try:
 
My goodness, I can’t believe I forgot Tantum Ergo. That is THE most essential adoration hymn, bar none.
 
Sorry to add to my earlier list - how could I forget “Soul of my Saviour”
