I have a year of heavy travel. I like traveling, and it’s part of my job. I’m just curious about people’s favorite airports and the best places to eat in those airports. I’ll start…

I’ve actually come to like Chicago O’hare. It has lots of space to walk and many decent restaurants. Personally, I like Tortas Frontera, and I like the wine bar just across from Tortas Frontera. I take my Tortas sandwich, and I eat it with a couple glasses of wine while sitting at the wine bar.

When I used to travel more, decades ago, I didn’t eat much in airports.

I did, however, frequently find myself making connections at O’Hare, and there was a particular Starbucks in the terminal that I would seek out.

I also used to look at the gift shops and kiosks in airports. After spending the week away from home, it’s nice to share something of the trip with my wife. Often I would try to get a little souvenir in town. If that fails, there’s the airport shops!

A favorite airport of mine is Albuquerque, New Mexico. It’s a tiny airport which shares the runways with an Air Force base (Kirtland AFB). It’s pretty cool to see F-16s taking off there.

Anyway, that’s where I bought a beautiful mug celebrating the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. It’s funny how I still associate the mug with memories of the airport.

Since you mentioned dining, I’ll add that Albuquerque has the best Mexican food… but probably not at the airport. Once I went to the supermarket in Albuquerque and I couldn’t believe the selection of peppers. It’s like they had a whole aisle full of different peppers.

I’ve never been to Albuquerque before. There might be some interesting National parks nearby…Petroglyph and Bandelier National monuments. I almost went there once to an interview at Sandia National Labs, but pursed other opportunities before I could go on the interview.

Roswell is not to far away. I could meet an alien… :alien: 🥳
