I’ve been enjoying watching my bookmarks increase with great Catholic websites.

I’ll include what I have, and if anyone wants to add to the list - I’d love to find some new ones as well!

I have many favorite sites, but I like to start by checking out what the blogging priests and religious (in the sidebar of my blog) have to say. I especially like Fr. Z’s site, What Does the Prayer Really Say?

One thing people might consider doing is to check the websites they spend time in versus their status as Catholic Culture has rated them. You might be surprised at what you learn about these sites. I go through the red list now and then and recently eliminated some sites after finding them there and reviewing the named “weaknesses”. I agreed with their findings once I looked at the sites and saw what they were talking about.

Here is the current “danger” (red) list. Be sure to click on the link that goes to the “strengths and weaknesses” page so you can see the details of why they call it red.

It’s always nice when you see one of your favorites sites on the green list.

Of course, some sites are listed as yellow or use caution and they tell you why.

Now, if a site you want to know about isn’t on there, simply use their form and submit one. It may take months for them to get through all that are sent to them, so be patient. I would imagine that the more requests they get on a particular site, the higher the priority would be.

From what I have seen, they do not review blogs.

Thanks for that reminder.
I saw one of my site, bustedhalo.com, on the red list. I find things on there that I agree with, and things that I KNOW are questionable, and I have contacted them about such things (like the nun defending “The Vagina Monologues”).

While I agree with most of their reviews, some of their reviews are quite questionable, especially their reviews of Keep the Faith and The Remnant.

They include as one of the weaknesses for the Keep the Faith site, that there are audio recordings of Michael Davies, Fr. McLucas, and Thomas Woods among others.:rolleyes: :rolleyes:

That is a strength not a weakness.

While it is good to contact a site to let them know of your objections, the best thing to do is not to give them the hits.

I won’t drive hit count up on any site which has content that contradicts Catholic teaching, most especially when it comes to moral theology and the divinity of Our Lord.

When we “patron” such sites, we enable them to corrupt others who don’t know any better, who believe they are getting authentic Catholic content. Rather, drive the hit count up on sites that do promote those things that are fully aligned with the CCC.

Case in point in the review of Busted Halo, is one of about 6 or 7 examples they cite to support the red status they give it.

The article Silent No Longer is an exclusive interview with a gay priest who **talks openly about the subculture of gay men in the priesthood, the existence of gay saints and how the Church is essentially forcing homosexuals to compromise their sense of integrity, he spoke movingly about the inability of the overwhelming number of celibate gay priests to offer up their own experience as witness in the Church.Here is the full list from Busted Halo (click on the examples)

You never know what some fine priest is cooking in your neighborhood. I lived just 7 miles from Grotto all my life and only discovered it in 2005.

Check this thread and if there is nothing or PA, bump the thread up by asking if anyone is aware of such a parish in your neck of the woods

I am planning an atheism debate website.
It will be focused on secularisation and atheism, looking at atheism from both the philosophical and sociiological viewpioint. It will be Catholic of course.

I’ve got some material already (see website). However I’d like to know what people would find useful.
Also any Catholic-themed ideas for video games. Don’t suggest Doom. Something I can do in my spare time.
