Jesus of Nazareth
The Ten Commandents
Marcelino Pan Y Vino (this one was really sweet!)

I love “Regarding Henry” with Harrison Ford. Although not marketed as a Catholic movie, it is very Catholic in its portrayal of the Sacrament of Marriage and being faithful forever, no matter what.

Cool, I’ll have to rent that.

my favorites would have to be

The sound of Music
The passion of Bernedette
St. Teresa of Alivia
Also the Gospel of John

Lilies of the Field, which is very old, but very good.

Also, another old one: Ben Hur.

In no particular order:

In This House of Brede
The Bells of St Mary’s
Bella
The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe

Now I’m going to throw a curveball. The movie *Signs *(written & directed by M Night Shyamalan) has an underlying message regarding faith and God’s merciful love that is powerfully moving to me (I’ve seen it several times, and I get teary every time). It’s not a “religious” movie in the traditional sense, but I love it. 🙂

Francis Ford Coppala’s “Bram Stoker’s Dracula”.

Yes, really.

There are so many interesting and inspiring movies on here. To those who have provided YouTube where you can catch a glimpse of the movies thank you very much.

Here are some of my favorite Christian/Catholic movies:

“Passion of the Christ”

“The Greatest story ever told”

“The Gospel of John”

“Ben-Hur” (1959 film)

“The Ten Commandments” (1956 film)

“The Bible: In the beginning”

“Jesus of Nazareth”

“Mother Teresa”
  • Did you know that Olivia Hussey starred as Mary, the Mother of Jesus “Jesus of Nazareth” and she also starred as “Mother Teresa”? There now you know. Just a li’l fact.
“Therese”

“Song of St. Bernadette”

“Joan of Arc” (miniseries)

“Noah’s Ark” (miniseries)

“Teresa De Los Andes” <–The Carmelte Nuns were kind enough to loan me this video 👍

“Lilies of the field”

“Bella”

“Janette Oke movies”

“The Prince of Egypt”

“Joseph: King of Dreams”

“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The wardrobe” <–I have to admit I don’t really understand how the Lion is like Christ?!?

This may not be a Christian/Catholic movie but it is one of my favorites

“Sleepers” (1996)

I’m not very good at explaining, but partially because:
  • He was the creator of the world of Narnia
  • He is often presented as a sort of deity in the books
  • He sacrificed himself (in LW&W) and rose again, defeating that evil ol’ White Witch! 😃

**“The Blues Brothers” ** (1980)

Seriously. Good Catholic boys 🙂

“And don’t come back until you’ve redeemed yourselves…”

“You get wise. You get to church.”

“Have you SEEN the light?”
“YES! YES! Jesus H Tap-Dancing Christ! I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT!”

“Praise God!”
“And God bless the United States of America!”

“Me and the Lord have an understanding.”

“Our Lady of Blast Acceleration, don’t fail me now!”

“…AND, they’re CATHlicks…” (Gruppenfuhrer to Head Nazi)

and of course…

“Ma’am, would it make you feel any better if we told you that what we’re asking Matthew here to do is a HOLY thing…?”

“You see, we’re on a mission from God.”

David (only half joking) 😉
