Which comedy films do you like?

I like “Young Frankenstein”. I also like “Some like it hot”

The National lampoon films with Chevy chase were funny.

Anger management with jack Nicholson was good.

A lot of Marx brothers films were hilarious.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High is hilarious although obviously not for young viewers

In general I’m not a big comedy fan, and most of my favorite movies are some type of drama.

The handful of comedies I do like includes

This Is Spinal Tap (spot on…everybody involved with music knows somebody just like each of the characters, I bet)
A Wedding
Annie Hall
Repo Man
The Women (1939 original version ONLY - the remake is not even worth watching the trailer)

Also a couple that were topical at the time but come off really dated today if you didn’t live through that era:
UHF (with Weird Al)
Tapeheads

My husband and I also went to see The Interview in a theater, after all the flap about its being banned. We went as a gesture of free speech support, although I suspected the whole business was a publicity stunt. The movie was overall funny although parts of it were gross.

The Sting, possibly my all-time favorite movie in any genre.

The Italian Job (the original one, not the remake)

The Blues Brothers

Ferris Buhler’s Day Off

Family Plot

Be Cool

Young Frankenstein

Blazing Saddles

Some Like It Hot

Grumpy Old Men

….

Many, many others.

Nice list…

Definitely, ‘The Sting’ is in a class by itself.

I’d add another Hitchcock movie - ‘The Trouble with Harry’.

One I enjoyed at the time was the original ‘The Nutty Professor’ with Jerry Lewis and Stella Stevens.

Somebody flagged your post, @meltzerboy2? Why on earth? Maybe they disapprove of Woody Allen … or of W. C. Fields …

I saw that too! Nothing flaggable about it. Maybe if we like his post?

I think that must be the answer. Perhaps if you were to write:

The Bank ——— (obsolete slang for “detective”).

Judging by the number of times I saw it when I was down, a very soapy comedy called “A View from The Top” (Gwyneth Paltrow is a flight attendant… myeah…) has to be my favorite comedy even if I feel way cooler than having that movie as my favorite comedy film but… hey, gotta be honest because lying is a sin. 😜 Is it a sin…?

Excuse me but why is @meltzerboy’s post flagged?

There is absolutely NOTHING objectionable in the post. @camoderator

I presume this is the “D word” which we have discussed before in connection with mentioning the name of actual men named D*** .

I certainly hope these flags don’t somehow count against you, meltzerboy, that’s completely ridiculous given that The Bank D is using the word in its original slang meaning Detective.

The Three Stooges were quite hilarious. I was thinking about them because they are doing a film on Mr. Rogers here in Pittsburgh and I was a little kid before Rogers was doing his thing.

Moe Larry and Shemp were great entertainers for little children.

My mom refused to let me watch the Three Stooges when I was a child. She thought they were too violent. I wasn’t particularly bothered by their violence (this was the era when Wile E Coyote fell off the cliff and was crushed by an anvil daily on the cartoons), but the high-pitched noises they made weirded me out as a kid so I didn’t miss not watching them.

I am a huge fan of the silent film genius Buster Keaton. I love his movies.
Any Mel Brooks movie is guaranteed to make me laugh, especially Blazing Saddles
I think O Brother Where Art Thou is very funny
And I am that rare creature, a woman who loves the Three Stooges.

Yep, agreed, though some Marx Brothers pictures more than others. Also almost anything with Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton …

That’s weird…why is my post shaded? Can anybody see it?

Oops okay now that I read the thread I guess the WC Fields’ film is a no no.

Post hidden by community flags…wow you guys are fast!
