Just wondering…what is your favorite hymn during mass?
I would have to say the Agnus Dei…it’s the one that usually will bring tears to my eyes.

Some settings of the Gloria are emotive for me.

Currently, I like “The Summons” for the lyrics.

Normally, I am not one for a single favorite.

Pax et bonum,

I am unsure if this qualifies as a hymn but I do like “We are the Light of the World.”

Speaking of would anyone know the guitar chords to this hymn?

I tend to like the Eucharistic Hymns ; my favourite would have to be AdoroTe (Godhead Here in Hiding) by St Thomas Aquinas translated by Fr Gerard Manley Hopkins S.J.

Another I like is “By Your Priestly Power O Risen Lord”

and of course that wonderful hymn to the Trinity “Firmly I Believe and Truly” by John Henry Newman

A certain rendition of Kyrie Eleison is probably my favorite, thought I’m not sure who did the arrangement for it.

To be fully honest, my all-time favorite is Lord of the Dance.

goes and hides behind a rock while 50 arrows whiz by him

I have a million #2’s, but I’ll say tantum ergo, cuz the amount of adoration the latin eminates through it… oh yeah.

P.S.

I think I have the guitar chords to “We are the light of the world.” I don’t remember.

(You’re referring to “We are the light of the world, may our light shine before all…”?)

I love the Eucharistic hymns. My current favorite is “Take and Eat”

My choir just learned “The Summons” and the words brought tears to my eyes.

I am an organist/choir director. There are so many beautiful ones. My favorite can change with the weather. (smile). However, a really good one is “Journey For Home.”
