Thanks for posting the novenas! Now I have some new favorites! I like the novena to St. Jude and St. Rita and pray those often.

Here is a question: I always pray a Novena over 9 days (say the prayers once a day). But someone once told me (maybe it was here on Catholic Answers) it can be that you say the prayer 9 times in a day if that’s what you want to do. Is that correct?

Earlier this year, I organized a trip of 20 people from Washington state down to San Francisco for the Walk for Life West Coast. In preparation, we prayed the Novena for the Protection of the Unborn. The words in this prayer are very powerful in themselves. I’m certain that the Novena helped us in several ways. I highly recommed praying it.

I know of one novena you say at the same time every hour for nine consecutive hours, that is:

The Powerful Novena of Unfailing Confidence

O Jesus, Who hast said, ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you, through the intercession of Mary, Thy Most Holy Mother, I knock, I seek, I ask that my prayer be granted. (Make your request)
O Jesus, Who hast said, all that you ask of the Father in My Name, He will grant you through the intercession of Mary, Thy Most Holy Mother, I humbly and urgently ask Thy Father in Thy Name that my prayer be granted. (Make your request)
O Jesus, Who hast said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away but My word shall not pass”, through the intercession of Mary, Thy Most Holy Mother, I feel confident that my prayer will be granted. (Make your request).

(Also called The Infant of Prague Novena, Prayer to the Infant of Prague or The Powerful Novena of Childlike Confidence)

I was taught that other novenas were to be said the same time every day for nine days, but in doing some research, it is true that some choose the option of once every hour for nine hours. I suppose it would be okay either way, I don’t know specifically if there are any ‘rules’ against it 🙂

Hope this helps in some way, any questions just ask! 🙂

Thank you, Margaret. That does help me. And I like the novena you posted as well. I am going to copy it and use it. I did the 9 hour novena to Our Lady of the Snows yesterday, which I found on this thread yesterday…I was having a stressful day…and I was comforted.

My favorite novena is Mother Teresa’s express novena, which is simply 9 Memoraraes in a row.

Thank you all… please keep them coming! I love sharing novenas… especially learning which ones others like and how they’ve helped them, and seeing others who are happy to have found out about them for the first time 🙂 I found a really extensive resource online that has many… See the prayer finder on the right hand side of page to search:

roman-catholic-prayers.com/novena.html

Had to edit this… just found another list… much larger… page is admittedly lacking in beauty of any kind, but it has 162 novenas!

Really a great find 🙂

I like the Divine Mercy Chaplet a lot. I’ve found it to be very fruitful.

Novena Prayer to the
Immaculate Heart of Mary

O Most Blessed Mother,
heart of love,
heart of mercy,
ever listening,
caring, consoling,
hear our prayer.
As your children,
we implore your intercession
with Jesus your Son.
Receive with understanding and compassion
the petitions we place before you today,
especially…

(State your request here…)

We are comforted in knowing your heart
is ever open to those who ask for your prayer.
We trust to your gentle care and intercession,
those whom we love
and who are sick
or lonely
or hurting.
Help all of us,
Holy Mother,
to bear our burdens in this life
until we may share eternal life
and peace with God forever.

Amen.

Lenten Novena

Father, all-powerful and ever-living God, during the Holy Season of Lent You call us to a closer union with Yourself. Help me to prepare to celebrate the Paschal Mystery with mind and heart renewed. Give me a spirit of loving reverence for You, our Father, and of willing service to my neighbor. As I recall the great events that gave us new life in Christ, bring the image of Your Son to perfection within my soul.

This great season of grace is Your gift to Your family to renew us in spirit. Give me strength to purify my heart, to control my desires, and so to serve You in freedom. Teach me how to live in this passing world with my heart set on the world that will never end.

I ask for the grace to master my sinfulness and conquer my pride. I want to show to those in need Your goodness to me by being kind to all.

Through my observance of Lent, help me to correct my faults and raise my mind to You, and thus grow in holiness that I may deserve the reward of everlasting life.

In your mercy grant me this special favor: (Mention your request).

The days of the life-giving Death and glorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ, Your Son, are approaching. This is the hour when He triumphed over Satan’s pride, the time when we celebrate the great event of our Redemption. The Suffering and Death of Your Son brought life to the whole world, moving our hearts to praise Your glory.

The power of the Cross reveals Your judgment of this world and the kingship of Christ crucified. Father, through His love for us and through His Sufferings, Death and Resurrection, may I gain eternal life with You in heaven.

Novena for Easter

(April 8 - April 16)

Loving God,
by this Easter mystery you touch our lives
with the healing power of your love.
You have given us the freedom
to be children of God.
May we who now celebrate your gift
find joy in it forever in heaven.

Grant this through
our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirt,
one God,
for ever and ever.
