Favorite part of Mass?

You’re the only person other than myself who I’ve heard say that’s their favorite moment. There was something particularly interesting about it in the days just after the implementation of the new translation. When you’re used to hearing “It is right to give him thanks and praise,” there’s something jarring about the abruptness of “It is right and just” which emphasizes the certainty and unqualified nature of the idea communicated by both phrases.

Another favorite moment is later in the same prayer - “You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray…” When I was in the process of converting earlier this year, I heard that prayer as if for the first time, and everything kinda clicked.

I find great comfort and inspiration in certainty- one reason I really dig infallible dogma.

Besides reception of the Eucharist and the readings. ?? I’m thinking ceremonial bits here, like asperges, incensation, Gospel procession, elevations, per ipsum, etc.

Mine is the EF’s asperges ceremony, very impressive, and the Asperges Me and Vidi Aquam are magnificent chants.

I also love a well-done incensation of an altar with an absolutely ridiculously smoky thurible.

Elevation. It’s a great time for short adoration. I feel deprived when a priest takes two seconds for this and then moves on.

As I read through all the replies, I am elated with each one.
What is my favorite part of the mass? I can only say Me 2 to all the statements thus far.

Being part of the choir, I can also relate doubly to the earworm effect of some of the tunes and words. It also is part of the glory of the mass. It is as though Jesus is still there whispering to us through the drudgery of the day…which he is!

In my youth, my favorite part of the Mass was when the priest said “Ita missa est.” That was long ago, when parties, fashion, popular music and dating were of too much interest.

Now, especially since I was fortunate to go on Pilgrimage to the Holy Land this year, my favorite parts of the Mass are:

(1) The Consecration, when I recall being in the upper room on Pilgrimage, imagining Jesus Christ present at the Last Supper, with the apostles, raising bread, saying “This is My Body,” and raising the cup of wine, saying “This is My Blood.” Then His saying, “Do this in commemoration of me.”

(2) The readings and gospels are so real to me and my fellow Pilgrims since we visited the holy places mentioned: Capernaum, the Sea of Galilee, Nazareth, Cana, Bethlehem, Jericho, the tomb of Christ, Mary’s Well, the Mount of the Beatitudes, Mt. Carmel, the Jordan River, the Church of the Annunciation, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Via Dolorosa, Calvary, the Judean desert, etc. During the readings of scripture, we can relate to those times and places in Church history; and

(3) Receiving Holy Communion and feeling so very close to God. Also, a favorite is distributing to the faithful congregation, as an extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, Holy Communion and wine from the chalice, the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

it made me so comfortable when we speak this words to God as its like it goes truly in your heart and along your nerves. So nice feeling

I can think of a reason to like that moment of the mass. Being sent out to to serve the Lord could be an inspiring moment, a reminder to bring the mass with you every moment of your life, dying to self and living to Christ, collecting moments that you will offer at the next mass. I always feel the extension of the mass into life rather than the termination of mass at that moment (well, if I am not distracted, of course).

I know, probably when young we don’t think that way unless we are a budding Little Flower (that is a particular saint).

I would consider my favorite part of Mass to be the saying of the “Our Father” before Communion. I love the “Our Father” prayer and praying it along with the entire congregation is nice.

I also enjoy the readings, particularly of the Gospel.

Like others in this thread, I get the Gloria stuck in my head as well. I guess my favorite part of the Mass would be Comunnion, it’s just an awsome, awsome meal to receive every week.

I like this too. I don’t think I’ve ever heard it at my parish though. But maybe that makes it more meaningful to me when I get to say it if I’m visiting another parish where they use it.
